[Read more letters about this article: Here]I disagree with your thesis, in Italy, boobs were everywhere, the women had no problem with low cut blouses and dresses even more so than I've ever seen in the US. And it was very obvious that the men looked on appreciatively and the women liked the attention. Billboards featuring nude men and women, statues all over Italy of naked men and women. And from all that I've read, rape is a lot less likely in Italy than any US city. But here people get at pissy over breast feeding and naked Jesus.
A prostitute is not only known by her attire, she is known because she stands around on a street corner or in a brothel waiting for men to solicit her for sex and actually will usually call out to the man if he wants a good time, it is not womens fault that you think the female form is so shameful and holds so much power over you that only whores show it off.
First hair showing was sinful, then ankles, then knees, so what's your advise, how should women dress to "earn men's respect"? Hmm is it all skirts and dresses should be ankle lenght, no clevage ever, maybe we should all wear turtlenecks and clothing 2 sizes to big so you won't think we're so stupid we can't add 2 and 2 together?
So please, please big smart man who knows all, please instruct us poor deluded females on the proper female uniform that will make all men respect women, I mean those burkas and hijabs seem to have worked so well in those other countries. I mean the men just think those women are so smart they don't need school and are so honest and upstanding equal members of socity they need 4 male witnesses to prove rape because theirs isn't good enough!

How many women used to die in childbirth, who the hell do you think was feeding those babies before formula was invented?
Now paying someone to breast feed my child, now that I wouldn't do because of the whole bodily fluids transmit disease problem and I'm pretty sure formula would be cheaper.
Yes, the birth mother is replaceable. See adoption. Since birthing a child can result in death it would not have been a plus if we evolved in the fashion that only the birth mother could feed the child.
As for the whole bonding thing, only selfish insecure people worry about their kids loving someone more than them. Seems to me that extended family and friends is a whole lot nicer than just mom, dad and kids with visits from the grandparents once in a while.

[Read more letters about this article: Here]From re-reading the letter I get the feeling the vegan is vocal about their veganism and has been for years and years and you have been friends for 40 or so years. I'm sure your vegan friend has accepted that you eat meat, otherwise they would have demanded a "justification" years ago.
If you are concerned that spending a long with with them, if your friend sees you eat meat Vegan will launch into one of their "sermons" and demand you justify yourself well you could try that vegan diet out during your visit, I've gone vegetarian for my friends, it's not a hardship to not eat meat all the time, then maybe discuss what you did and did not like about that diet.
But if you've already had this discussion numerous times with your friend and they still sermonize you, or demand justifications then I wonder why you keep them around or are traveling all that way to spend lots of time with them. I wouldn't want to be around someone who thinks I'm deeply immoral and is constantly asking me for reasons for my actions and won't drop it after I've already explained it once.
