It's time

It's time we stopped this insanity. It's time we take back control of our governement and tell them we are finished and it's time to leave. I am so tired of watching the bar set and when it's not met its lowered and the propoaganda machine crank up and support this war. Up until 6 months ago I was against impeachment because of its devisive nature but the President is so far gone, we really need to impeach, now. This has got to stop.

You got it wrong Joan

Before we go any further lets establish a couple of facts. Petraeus is first and foremost a soldier. When anyone begins to fault soldiers for following their orders of their superiors you get into so slippery territory. Move On's ad was a blunder on their part. They also gave the GOP, who was desperetly looking for cover, a lot of it. Being against the war is good, being against a soldier is not good. The tag line presented "Does the party want to win the White House next year" smacks of sensatioalism at best and is disingenuous at worst. Politicians being politicans really have to be careful these days and that is a shame. Not Voting to condem the ad was going to give even more ammunition to the wingnuts. The crime here is that while the pols are being careful, the troops under Petraeus are dying daily and that really is the crime. Oh and one more thing Joan, This isn't about you.

Elegant

Ken Burns produces such good work that for me, his ability to frame such complex events is simply second to none. The people he films, the narration and the background music bring such a real sense of what happened, regardless of whether its about this war, the Civil War, baseball or whatever he chooses to explore. The part that is most telling for me is the openess he leaves with the audience. I know that what he has presented is not the complete story. There is never the sense of completness. That's alright though. The complexity of the story and his ability to interweave all the elements is truly a gift. Thank you Ken Burns

Spectacle

This race will be fun to watch on several levels. Republicans will continue to search for the ghost of Ronald Reagun for the forseeable future. They won't find him. Ronnie was nothing if he wasn't lucky and that whole scenario that got Reagun elected won't occur again for a long time. Dobson has sold his soul for the the power that a king maker enjoys and there really isn't anyone in the field that he will support. He has no king to crown.The king maker might very well run a third party candidate and guarantee a GOP loss as if the current debacle of corruption, poor policy both foreign and domestic isn't enough to take down the GOP. A quick check of the wing nut sites shows a deep dislike for Guliani but I'm not sure Rudy can pull it off even with the base behind him. Gay Republicans can't come out and are getting caught in bathrooms yet refuse to resign. Now we have Coulter spewing even more outrageous thoughts (if thats possible) and she advocates taking back the vote from over half the population. You really can't make this stuff up

Not enough

I think Mr. Blumenthal has written an outstanding letter. I read many letters daily that are equally as elequent. The problem here is that these people are on a mission and it doesn't matter how well written anything or what kind of logic or intelligent argument is made. When impeachment was first raised sometime ago, I was against it. I think impeachment is a really destructive tool. We have the Clinton impeachment to draw on and I can only wonder what more could have been accomplished if we had not had to deal with all that crap. I have come to believe that the only way to stop these people is to impeach both Bush and Cheney. We need to remind people in the future that this type of "leadership" is unacceptable and will not be tolerated ever again. The people of the future need to know that we knew this was wrong and we did something about it.

Say what?

The first time I wrote a letter to response to something on the internets, I realized that the medium while allowing instaneous response also didn't encourage much reflection and review. That aspect of cyberspace clearly needs to be learned by many. Yes airplanes and their pressure make you fart more and thank you Patrick for your disgression in not taking that one any further. I suppose inquring minds are a good thing but some questions are not worthy of an answer.

Smooth

Patrick;

Like a slump in baseball the more you think about the worse it gets. Comic relief for the Captain is always a good thing. Don't wash that lucky pair of underwear, do the takeoff checklist twice and look farther down the runway. It'll happen, really

So don't

So don't date. You've got a very full life. Men require some attention and time. I'd be willing to bet at the end of the day you're pretty tired. Go with it. Politely you must mention to your mom that her values aren't yours. You're doing good things. Enjoy your kids and your life.
