McCain: A Victim of War Who Still Loves Wars.
[Read the article: John McCain's real war record]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]McCain is that rare species of humanity who endured the horrors of war but still loves it. It is ironic to see him allied with some of those who avoided combat but support this war provided their families show support by waving flags or writing gung ho jingles or columns. Seeing him accompanied with a non-server war lover, Senator Joseph Lieberman, proves he is not qualified to lead if he is unaware of why Lieberman loves THIS war. Both Mr. Bush and McCain believe we could have won the war in Vietnam without spelling out how this could be accomplished. Would we have needed occupational troops for 100 years as he now predicts we may be occupying Iraq? Since we killed 3,000,000 in that small country which never attacked us on our home shores (as Mr. Bush recently reminded us) how many more would have to be killed to accomplish this purported victory? We who served in previous times of war knew our enemies were funtioning nations with which we could negotiate a truce or accept their surrender. No such options exist with this present globally dispersed enemy our foreign policies have created,

Eagerly Awaiting Armegeddon So bring It on!!
[Read the article: Mike Huckabee hearts Israel]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I have never seen LaHaye but after viewing Rev. Hagee I realize the harm religion can do upon the human mind. Religion is the only philosophy in which human intelligence is often ignored. Is there a difference between bin Laden's group and the enormous following Hagee has? George W. Bush's ties to the Armegeddon groups has played a major role in getting us into the final war which both Hagee and bin Laden eagerly await. As far as anyone commenting that the Israelites are "God'ls Chosen" is as discomforting as one of our ast lunatics thinking his people were "Chosen" and killed 50 million people attempting to prove it. Why is there not more oment upon the gung ho support for this war by Senator Lieberman? Is his true agenda and primary loyalty to this country which has enriched him? The citizens of Israel willingly accept these million dollar gifts Hagee gives them with every visit but laugh behind his back recognizing a crackpot when they see and hear one.

How Many Do We Have To Kill To Convert Them To Our Values such as thousands of homicides annually?
[Read the article: How is John McCain like John Kerry?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Both McCain and Bush when visiting Vietnam both commented that the war could have been won. I think the Vietnamese displayed a great deal of restraint in not openly condemning such insane rhetoric. Bush recently, when someone compared North Vietnam to Al Qaida, reminded us "North Vietnam never attacked us on our homeland." He somehow misses the point by wondering why we attacked them and killed an estimated three million of their citizens if they never attacked us? McCain is so out of it that there are reports he still refers to these victims as "Gooks."

Getting Ready For More Perpetual, Unwinnable Wars.
[Read the article: AP reports John Edwards will drop out today]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Once Joe Lieberman linked with McCain I realized the others hardly stood a chance of winning. I dispute the media reports that McCain is broke because the group of billionaires and millionaires who support the Likud policies in Israel created "Freedom Forum" which replaces the now defunct "Progect For a New American Century" and thus gave McCain unlimited access to a bottomless pit of money. So for those who love wars and more wars I suggest whenever you view their ads on TV you should keep a flag handy to wave. Even an American flag.

No Group Is Held In More Disdain and Contempt Than Our Enlisted Personnel.
[Read the article: In the military we trust]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I cannot believe Mr. Astore was serious when he wrote this nonsense. I spent a good part of my life as an enlister person and I can guarantee no other group experiences the disdain and contempt from the general public as do they. I believe one of the main reasons for this is our forces a disproportionatey staffed by the nation's economic under-class. Chris Matthews has made many appearances at our major colleges and when he often asked the audience after hearing some of the most gung ho, jingoistic often up his show with asking how many were willing to join up. Usually none raised a hand. We would soon see this war come go a finish if a functioning draft was passed into law. This is proven by the strange fact that those most in favor of it oppose reinstating military conscription. They now the result would be a repeat of what we experienced in the 60s. Am I the only person to remember there was very little opposition to the war in Vietnam until LBJ toyed with the idea of drafting those hiding in college. Are there any recruiting offices in our most affluent cities?

Bush41 Deputizes McCain To Continue Their 100 or more years war.
[Read the article: Former President Bush to endorse McCain]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I believe it is quite fitting that Bush41 is endorsing John McCain. Remember it was the elder George Bush who started this latest mess by intervening in the Kuwait-Iraq border disputes in 1990. MCCain's dire prophesy of "a one hundred years war" will further fulfill the Bush41 agenda when he told the world "What WE say goes!!" Though he did not define the word 'WE' mos of us can conclude it does not mean us, the expendable chumps who fight and pay for the wars he and his Neocon controllers have entangled us into. steve, USN, WW2

Enlist The Demonstrations To Show Their Support For War.
[Read the article: A new front in Berkeley vs. the Marine Corps ]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I read Rep. DeMint's website and notice he does not list having had any military service. Nothing wrong with that but once again it seems the many of our most exuberant "patriots" somehow avoided such service. Rather that all these unending demonstrations by the pro-war groups as a veteran I believe they could far more gather support for their cause by displaying their patriotism in a swearing-in ceremony by newly enlistd army recruits. In fact, as a former recruiter, I believe there would be a large pool of potential recruits in the ranks of the demonstrators. steve, USN, WW2
