Btw, I knew a guy that was at Katyn. He was a lieutenant in the Polish army. He guessed that something was up, so removed some stripes , to make himself look like a corporal. Finished the war in the US Army, and gained his citizenship. Seemed to have given him the attitude that everything came after was a bonus. ( Probably what allowed him to put up with his wife ;). If Israel did what you seem to suggest, a sizeable part of the Israli & US publics, and many in the IDF(as did this time), would balk, and there would be considerable negative consequences. Any supposed "restraint" shown by the Israeli government is due to CMA practical considerations, not some inherent goodness.

Self-respecting nations do not pay much attention to criticism.
