Answers, please?

to Glenn's essential points, from WS, J.I.T-A, knickname, et al.

Calling you fringe is fairly obvious -- no one else outside of David Duke and Pat Buchanan publish such one-sided rage filled bullshit about Israel.

So, why should we do Israel's dirty work? Why should we consider Israel's declared interests (are they really in their best interest?) exactly coincidental with ours? If what we do in this regard provokes a military conflict with Iran, is it worth it? Are all the other negative sie effcts of unequivocable support of Israel's actions worth it?

...to GG : Hamas=Palestinians

Glenn and others , myself included, decry indiscriminate attacks on all Gazans , and you say it's justified, and possibly even desirable, because whatever happens, they are attacks on Hamas. Huh? Who's equating what with whom ,eh? ;)

Derbig & Baldie , back in '01 & '02 , I remember some sane people advocating the same measures as ondelette does now. Unfortunately, the dumbasses in charge didn't see it that way, and offered a big FU to just about anybody that might have helped. Then they got distracted by Iraq. If I remember correctly, as of 9/11/02 , we'd spent $12+B on the war , & ~$5million on reconstruction.

Pedinska, my "send" quit again ( #@$&@@$&!!!) , so couldn't respond. In subsequent reading, especially of what came later, I think you were correct. Grinds my gears sometimes too . In some ways, though, we have it coming (sort of), because if nothing else, we weren't good enough to convince our compatriots to see it our way. I usually just take it , and get more irritated at "ours" , for being subjected to that. ;)

Btw, slightly OT , if you'd like to spare a few words for local torture apologists, lets-all-get-along-and-not-prosecute-ists, and the 61 recidivist-terrorist yadadyadayadaists , go here : http://www.pressconnects.com/article/20090125/COLUMNISTS03/901250354/1022/COLUMNISTS#pluckcomments

barryaus

blockquoteGetting the "pound of flesh" might feel good, but the trials would be horrendous. How do we get satisfaction? Here's an idea. Obama should pardon all involved. This way everyone knows they are guilty (like Ford's pardon of Nixon) but they cannot defend themselves in court. Sure, they won't serve time, but they will have the albatross of guilt on their shoulders.

Horrendous for whom? The candyass mushmouth enhanced-interrogationists that can't bring themselves to say "torture". ? The ostrich exceptionalists that don't want to admit that we're not always the "good guys"? The victims , that might testify? The 22%ers ? Whoever you mean, they'll get used to it.

Btw, what's that albatross weigh, and what's it's deterrent value?

from rockybalboa....

b>are you obamaniac

By now everyone is aware that the media elected obama. They were able to dupe millions of simple-minded Americans, especially the young, to vote for him.

Here is the truth. Obama is a marxist who is in league with the Saudis who have bankrolled him and with satan whom he worships and has sold his soul to.

:))))))))

heru-ur , although the above wasn't on UT , you might see something to surpass jTom . Just add a little trollfood and wait. ;)

bass ackward

I thought we were past jtom , but apparently not quite, so....

That is why we have trials where lawyers argue and judge make judgement. If it black and whilte, we might just write a computer program to replace all court proceedings and save lots of resources

Trials, judges, lawyers, and juries deciding is what Glenn, and just about everybody here, is advocating . Cohen ( & you) is the one calling for a pre-determined decision, - in the negative. Cohen's the one you should be arguing with. Seemed to have confused yourself, j.

Bob Simon

did a similar piece for 60 minutes, a few years ago . (~10?)The interview with a settler really brought home the fanataciscm involved . The visual is of a friendly, smiling,30ish woman with her young child . The words that she spoke were as fanatical as any suicide bomber. It was stomach-churningly awful, even more so than in the current piece . ( Or maybe I've gotten more used to fanatics?)

English rog, yeah getting the settlers to leave, could get expensive, but I'd gladly shell out to get it done. It'd be much less expensive in the long run , and for a better result. If only cash was the only obstacle.

Jane said it best

"Can someone explain to me how "bipartisan" ever means anything but giving the wingnuts what they want so they don't pitch a bitch in the corner?"

- Jane Hamsher 1/23/08 (at sig)

Even when they get what they want, they have a hissy fit because they didn't get more, &/or the Dems get something , however meager .

@ Presumtious Insect

"Also, anyone with any understanding of language would not write this bizarrely contradictory statement: “I know propaganda when I see it, and GG, with his lawyerly precision, is a master at sculpting his use of linguistics in a post-Chomsky understanding to embed a contrarian propaganda bias to match that which he beholds.”

That smells of automated trollery .(& one can always tweak it a bit ) An example below , tweaked parts in bold, the source at my sig . Have fun. :)

Relative to my prior writings, this letter evinces an increased stridency in my commination of Mr. WinSmith TheTroll, Ph.D.'s convictions. This is because WinSmith is starved for attention. Let's get down to business: WinSmith's henchmen are merely ciphers. WinSmith is the one who decides whether or not to panic irrationally and overreact completely. WinSmith is the one who prefers to prostrate the honor, power, independence, laws, and property of our entire country in service to Israel . And WinSmith is the one trying to conceal how of all of his exaggerations and incorrect comparisons, one in particular stands out: "An occasional contretemps in the M.E. could benefit us." I don't know where he came up with this, but his statement is dead wrong.
