And the surprise is........?????
Romney has said as much, very clearly , in the debates. In the second one, he more-or-less said the president can do what he wants because he's the president . Lost me before that , by being the first candidate on the "War With Iran" bandwagon . Scared me with the debate comments .Ditto Giuliani. First time a candidate has ever done that to me. Unfortunately , most of it got lost in the hysterical faux outrage over Ron Paul's suggestion that we consider the consequences of our actions .
There's no difference in what Huckabee and Obama are doing . The difference lies in what "Christian" means to each . I have no problem with it, if it's genuine, and tells us about who they are . I'd rather hear it now, instead of after the election. Bush told us too , but it was shrugged off by all but his "base". Maybe we'll believe them this time .
I have one question in regard to Reid and the others that are trying to ram this through : Who is getting money from whom? The answer might explain a lot .
What's "good", Good Celery? I like 'Red Venture' (red stems , less stringy) Love the A. 'Hot Biscuits ' and the H. 'Chocolate', especially together . If I may make a modest suggestion, put them with Cosmos sulphureus ('Bright Lights', 'Ladybird' , 'Cosmic' series) , and something blue &/or purple . Cocktailhag, I breed daylilies, and if I ever get to naming them real names ( instead of HRSR9701,LFSDC01013, etc) you're on the list . ;D
On to the politics ........
I sent a message to John Edwards, among others , yesterday morning .About 6pm , I received a reply that was on topic, up-to-the-minute, and specific to my message. It was a "Thank You" and an encouragement to call my senators right then, with their DC office #s listed . No campaign plug, or the usual generic
politician-response fluff . Politics aside, it speaks well of the administrative side of an Edwards Administration , should it ever happen . Oh, ...my senators? Hillary will take a message while she's AWOL, and Schumer's apparently unaware of answering machines or voice mail . Wonder what he's trying not to hear?
LOL Yes there certainly are . It's the voles however,Meadow- (M. pennsylvanicus (Specterus?;D)) and Boreal Redback - (Clethrionomys gapperi) be-bop-o-ing through the lilies and the tulips that cause much consternation . ( Did I really expect the PINK trumpets to be PERFECTION ?) . In the upcoming SBOWL ( Small Mammal Bowl) , it's the cries of "Win one for the gapper!" that will be heard most often . A 1/4 lb of Gyp seed? The babies will be breathing on the whole county. Gonna bale that stuff?
Wish the politicians were like your seed ; labeled properly, plant 'em , and you get like the pretty picture on the packet . Alas, they are more like my daylily seedlings; you start out with an idea of what you want , but it takes several years to find out what you got . Most will be just like the source of what spawned 'em, some will be better , a few more will be worse, one in a thousand will be special, and a keeper, and there will be more than a few voles , digging in the dirt, unseen , devouring the roots of democracy .
Took a stab at the Sisyphysean rock of flipping Harry Reid . Was going to copy it here , but the spammer-jammer b@$#&$ locked me up . Couldn't even copy it to "Notepad" . Don't have the "umph" to redo it now . Will do it Sun pm .
re: " bipartisanship goes to Jane @ FireDogLake for this, last week :
“Can someone explain to me how “bipartisan” ever means anything but giving the wingnuts what they want so they don’t pitch a bitch in the corner?”
Been wondering that for years. But I thought it was some Librul/Commie-nist Far-Left George Soros-sponsored CRAZY talk infecting my brain, so ignored it. ;D
Glenn knows that we can do that ourslves . It's "By-your-own-bootstraps" criticism in here. ;D
Hyperdimensional physics ? Never know what you're going to find in here .Cool.
Got a letter from the NRCC tonight . ( Awhile ago, asked them to "Let me know what you weasels are up to.") I see that they've started a blog . One where you can actually put your own comments , not just pick some predetermined multiple choice answer (in which all answers are bad) Their mistake . Their constituents are giving them hell........ about giving in to and being too much like Democrats! =))) Some reasoned, spot-on critique of their work , but also a lot of "George-Soros-is-gonna-ruin-us-if-you-don't-stop-it" stuff too. ( Him being the only "OLD-RICH-GUY" giving out political money is just not fair!)
The Honorable Congressmen answered some posts too. Such as this:
" I say let the Republican platform be 'It's time to get our country "back" to what our forefathers intended. ' "Hooray" for the Constitution" - Nancy
( don't think she was talking about FISA/immunity)
Rep. Kevin McCarthy :"Nancy , you are correct . Our country was built on more than just a slogan, or a poll-tested catch phrase; it was built on a Constitution of everlasting ideals . President Reagan understood this..."
followed by more unintentional comedy .
NOTGONNADOIT! NOTGONNADOIT! NOTGONNADOIT! but I did .....wrote and suggested that they remind certain White House denizens of that whole incovenient Constitution thing . *sigh* ( and if they want Hillary spying on THEM)
Much of the initial coverage about Fort Hood turned out to be wrong. Is there anything wrong with that?
The accountability imposed by another country for the CIA's kidnapping and torture reveals much about our own.
Fox News' morning show plays to type, talking about whether Muslims in the Army should face "special debriefings"
The survivor and author is upset about comparisons some on the right are making to genocide
Once seen as a lunatic fringe, reactionary anti-women groups are courting respectability
