  • @ doloresflower: Taking The Pulse Of Clinton Supporters

[Read the article: The Democrats' anti-momentum]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Of course I want a Democrat to win the WH! I thought I'd made clear at some point support for whomever is the nominee.

I have some serious reservations about Obama's electability against John McCain. I think I have aired most of these before the Wright flap. But, to recap, now:

    1] Lack of national/international experience

2] His ties to Antoin Rezko for so many years

3] His own use of "racism" against the Clintons

    4] His flip-flops on Iraq

5} His acceptance of Wall Street money in his campaigns

6] His inability to effect change (of the sort he speaks about) either in Illinois or the U.S. Senate

7] The negative way his colleagues in the Illinois Senate and in the U.S. Senate have portrayed him: "taking a powder" on controversial votes; referring to him as a "dilettante" in the U.S. Senate

    8] His wife's comments

9] His judgment about Rev. Wright

I think John McCain will make mincemeat out of him on issues 1, 4, 5, 6, 7.

    I think the right-wing will have a heyday with 2, 3, 7, 8, 9.

Frankly, I'm getting the little John Kerry-butterflies in my stomach about Obama's electability. I knew Kerry was a goner the minute he was swiftboated. And that is, I'm afraid, where things are headed for Obama.

  • @ Xrandadu Hutman: Polls

Here are the links. Sorry, I don't want to hassle with writing out a bunch of extraneous commentary. The actual polls are just easier to read and review:

  • @ Xrandadu Hutman: What I DID And DIDN'T Say

[Read the article: The Democrats' anti-momentum]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

I said that Clinton does better than Obama in a general election matchup and in battleground states. And if you look at the polls right now, she does. I'd think it would be easier to turn a +.08 McCain win (against Clinton) in the GE to a Clinton win than it would be to take a +2.8 McCain win (against Obama) in the GE.

  • @ Uncle Fester: Crossover Republicans

[Read the article: The Democrats' anti-momentum]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

There have been a lot of figures bandied-about re: Republican crossovers in Ohio and Texas. However, according to factcheck.org, there are always a certain number of crossover votes in states where you can switch parties. And they've pretty much debunked the numbers reported in The Boston Globe
