  • Are you going to whine like that all day long again?

No whine, just the facts. The man asked, and I answered.

Are you afraid to face the fact that all you have in slime and invective? Hell little one, go with what you got; do not be ashamed of what you are.

Sure, it could happen. I have not see a new guy make a comment that the cabal disagreed with that did not lead to an all-out slime fest, but it could happen.

It would be nice to see more of this sort of thing; or in my case --- see it for the first time.

"Hell little one," -- Again with the bazaar insults. Very strange mentality, Bucky.

It was not an insult; that is your M.O.

    Damn grasshopper, you beat all.

Now is the Time to Speak Out!

    The Regents and Ward Churchill

    By NATSU SAITO

In the next few weeks, the Board of Regents of the University of Colorado (CU) will vote on the dismissal of Professor Ward Churchill. This is the final opportunity for public input in this process.

Over the past two and a half years, many of you have opposed CU's attempts to fire Ward. Ward and I have engaged in this struggle not for the sake of his job (he will always write, speak and teach), nor because we enjoy battling bureaucracy, but because it has become emblematic of contemporary efforts to silence those who insist on discussing uncomfortable truths.

Since February 2005, CU administrators have been under intense political and financial pressure to fire Ward for his statements about the 9/11 attacks. To avoid blatantly violating the First Amendment, they have resorted to a pretextual investigation of his scholarship.

After combing through a media barrage of unfounded allegations and his more than 20 books, 100 articles, and over 12,000 footnotes, CU has settled for firing Ward Churchill, a tenured full professor, for six instances of alleged improper footnoting or author attribution (see details below).

Predictably, this has provided sufficient excuse for those who wish to distance themselves from this "controversy" and still believe they support academic freedom. For organizations like Lynne Cheney's neoconservative American Council of Trustees and Alumni (ACTA), it is a major victory for the corporatization of higher education. [...]

The Iranians have thrown out inspectors and thumbed their nose at diplomats from both the EU and UN. What exactly do you think we have to offer that would bribe them to abandon their nuclear program? And let's be clear here, it is bribery.

I think you need you inspect that charge a bit more closely. Try http://www.juancole.com/ for some real insight into the situation.

The real question remains at the end of all and any conjecture... are you personally willing to risk Israel and all it's inhabitants against the proposition that Iran doesn't really mean what it says about genocide?

The answer to that one, is the indicator of what direction one pursues in this conflict.

    -- shooter242

This is the real problem with your position.

Israel has hundreds (estimates run from 400 to 600) of nukes and the missiles to hit almost anywhere in the world; especially given the three boomers we gave them. What would a handful of bombs do for Iran other than add deterrence against an attack. We like deterrence. Israel likes deterrence. Are you saying that Iranians (Persians) are sub-human and can not want a weapon for the mere deterrence value?

If Iran is using nuclear power to generate electricity as they have always claimed; that is legal under the treaties they signed but Israel refuses to sign.

Does anyone know how much money the USA has given Israel over the decades while they developed 400-600 nukes as compared to how much money we gave Iran while they were not? How does that compare on our spending for the homeless right here in our country?

--Shooter242 Sub-human? Tsk. As for deterrence, deterrence of who exactly? Us? The Israelis? And this deterrence would be delivered how exactly? The problem with that idea is that the public face of Iran won't shut up about killing jews. That definitely doesn't sound like wanting a WMD for deterrence to me.

The Iranian President is made to look the fool via propaganda efforts and horrible miss-translations. He really should have all his speeches translated into English and handed to the press in advance.

He claimed that Israel as it exits today can not stand, much as von Mises said about communism decades before it fell apart. This is no different than the words of many Jewish bloggers on the issue.

http://antonyloewenstein.com/blog/ for example has questioned the government of Israel's policies and stated at times that it must change as has http://www.desertpeace.blogspot.com/ often. You can write 'Desert Peace' and he will tell you whatever you want to know --- a real nice fellow.

Do people that are pursuing nuclear power for peaceful purposes tend to threaten their neighbors with extinction? How about the aiding of Hezbollah in attacking said neighbor? If Iran wants a nuclear program for strictly peaceful purposes they are doing everything in their power to dissuade the world of peaceful intent.

Again, Iran has threatened no one. They have not invaded another country since the 1700's or so.

What? Israel hasn't held us hostage, or bombed our embassy, or killed our soldiers. I have no idea what has been spent on the homeless, but I can say that in the great scheme of things the Israelis are a lot more valuable to our country. But hey, I could easily get on the bandwagon to pull out all our troops and cancel all foreign aid as well.

You get on the bandwagon to bring all troops home and not give any money to any other country until at least we no longer have homeless Nam vets in our streets and I will call you absolutely correct on that issue. Hell, I'll cheer you on --- but if you talk about destruction, you can count me out.

(Hmmm, might be a song in that someplace in that last line)

Make it a series of interviews if she is willing and it goes well. You will do current events tomorrow, but she has tons of stories to tell you about "the way it was" that would make for great reading.

Helen Thomas; what a great choice. She is a real profile in courage.
