I just want to note that Glenn Greenwald is awesome.

incredible

Walsh, I admire you, but Oh. My. God. You CANNOT be SERIOUS. Matthews, more than any other mainstream media "star", has been absolutely trashing democrats for about, what?, the last 10 years now? And making millions off it?

No one was more unfair to the Clintons. No one was more unfair to Gore in 2000. And this campaign season, he's already begun trashing Hillary Clinton at every opportunity with nasty, gender-based insults that reflect, as Bob Somerby calls it, his disturbing "throwback values".

It's just simply astonishing that this guy, overwhelmingly the biggest idiot in our mainstream media - this sexist millionaire buffoon - would garner praise from Joan Walsh.

I just can't get this stuff into my mind anymore. It almost hurts.

It was physically painful to read this post.

Side point

It would have been easy for Glenn to write an entire book on this topic, with each chapter covering some different "mainstream journalist" mocking democrats and the democratic party.

Olbermann is such a rare species in the stupid jungle that is our "press corps", that these idiots really don't know what to say about him.

He's so "unstupid" that it appears to them as bias.

This is a such a strange phenomenon.

And Aravosis did kiss Kurtz's ass, just like you might expect someone who wants to get invited back to do. It's such a shame that human beings are built like this.

Give it to Glenn

You have to give it to Glenn, don't you? Gosh golly he tries doesn't he?

Even Bob Somerby gave up trying to get any of these people to "come clean" about their endless lies, distortions, pandering to the right, and incredible ineptitude. He continues to report on it, yeah, but why bother going any further?

Glenn has a lot to learn about this class of Antoinettes. As long as they are living their millionaire lives, they can swat all criticism away like flies.

Salon's movie reviews are the best

In response to commenter Laterlily, I'm astonished by your criticism of Salon's movie reviews. I haven't seen "13" yet, but I can definitely say that Stephanie's reviews have been particularly valuable to me over the years - not just in deciding what to see, but sometimes just to help me figure out what I missed in what I saw.

Hey Joan - this is god awful!!!!!

This is the most god awful thing I have ever read in Salon. I swear to god, I don't know why you bothered to publish this. This was absolutely infuriating tripe. Almost every sentence was horrible. But this has to take the cake:

"What political role did Gore play in the world after leaving office?"

Is this satire? I mean, she can't possibly be serious can she? Gore only released a film which basically changed the world, and got himself nominated for a Nobel Prize. That's all.

He only spoke up several times publicly, before we ever got in our Iraq mess, warning us that it was going to BE A MESS.

He's only been right about almost every major issue I can think of. That's all.

The chances are high, but for another reason

Glenn says that if the media continues to report on Iran in this skewed matter, chances forlic conflict with Iran are high.

I agree that chances for conflict are high, but not for the same reason. The public does not, and will not, desire war with Iran, no matter how stupid the media continues to be.

The chances of conflict are high because the Bush Administration loves war and doesn't care what the public or the media think to begin with.

Fascinating

Glenn, I find this fascinating. Your reaction was that the media was unduly harsh on Obama, while Bob Somerby thought it was Hillary who was treated unfairly.

Check this out, it's worth a read:

outstanding

Hiring Glenn Greenwald is the best move Salon ever made. I knew that once Glenn returned from his mini-break he'd come back with an ass-kicking piece like this.

Original article: "Hold on a second, sweetie"

this comment is gender based

I hate to get all gender-based but I must say that Ms. Traister is quite pleasing on the eye balls.

Original article: "Hold on a second, sweetie"

an now a non-gender based comment

Just wanted to add, after having glanced over the hysterical letters you got before mine, that I agree with you.

I guess what concerns me most about his use of the word "sweetie" isn't the sexist aspect of it, but rather how remarkable it is that a politician at his level wouldn't have trained himself, by now, to avoid saying politically incorrect things like that.

That's the real worry I have.

And btw, I voted for him, and I'm still happy that I did.

Original article: Blog news

to the guy who quoted the Somerby criticism of Greenwald and Rosen...

I sort of agreed with Somerby about Rosen and Glenn, but what was the point of copying and pasting that Somerby excerpt in Greenwald's fundraising post comments?

To discourage people from donating money because of one post you disagreed with?

After all the incredible work Glenn has done, why would you want to do that? It makes no sense.

Stop being an ass.

What about IRAN?

Glenn,

Are you sure Brooks hasn't also advocated for war with Iran?

That would make 5 countries.

Letters format sucks

I want to agree with the commenter who pointed out that the letters format is really awful.

They get off on war

Glenn, your last question is definitely appropriate. The elite look at war like a soap opera. What would they be left to talk about without it? You might say it's a "force that gives them meaning."
