The beauty of Obama's win

One of the great things about Obama's election victory and the crushing defeat of the Republicans overall is that Fox News can now be completely ignored.

There's no reason for Democrats to talk to Fox News, appear on Fox News shows, or even acknowledge that Fox News exists.

For the time being, Fox News has been rendered completely irrelevant.

Original article: Condi Rice on Obama

Good for her, but...

...it's tempered by all of the harm she's done during the past eight years.

If we're all lucky, the president-elect that she so admires will soon put her, President Bush, Dick Cheney and Donald Rumsfeld behind bars.

Then we can once again rejoice in all that this country has to offer.

I suspect...

...that Sarah Palin thinks that replacing senators is part of the job of the vice president.

What "plausible alternative"?

There is not "plausible alternative", as the Republicans have no intention of outlawing abortion, now or ever.

They occasionally do dumb things, but they aren't stupid. If they outlawed abortion, ever one of the single-issue voters that regularly vote Republican would leave, and they'd take their money with them.

Since the Republicans also oppose sex education and birth control, it could be argued that they are more "pro-abortion" than are the Democrats.

Alternative? Yes. Plausible? No.

Who cares if it's silly?

Let's do it because it's the right thing to do.

Original article: The egos have landed

One thing you can't fix in Pro Tools...

...is the fact that Axl Rose has the world's most irritating voice.

That alone makes GnR completely unlistenable for me.

Chambliss wins? Great!

Now the Democrats can tell Joe Lieberman to take a hike.

Oh, I forgot. They are spineless. Never mind.

It's about going with a familiar brand

It's about the voters being comfortable with a brand they already know. People don't eat at McDonald's because the food is good; they eat there because they know what they're getting.

Obama's mantra notwithstanding, people really don't like change. What they like is the same old thing.

Original article: Obama talks Blagojevich

Connect the dots...

Blagojevich is from Illinois.

Barack Hussein Obama is from Illinois.

Given the above, how could Obama not be corrupt?

Original article: 8-year-old denied divorce

It's this simple...

it's a marriage between one man and one woman. Just like God intended.

I mean, at least they're not gay. ;)

Original article: Did I just buy an SUV?

SUVs are great...

...if you live where I do, in a remote part of a Western state where most of the roads are unpaved.

Elsewhere, they're not so useful.

Here's the entire text:

My name is Laura Bush. I read and I smoke.

The end.

I'm not sure who he wants to get the office

Jewel?

Yanni?

It can't be Jewel y Yanni; they only allow one...

I don't get it

I know most people don't hear the difference between an mp3 (or AAC, which is what iTunes sells) and uncompressed CD quality, but I do, in certain situations, and I simply refuse to pay for music that is of a knowingly inferior quality than I can get at my local CD store, no matter how convenient it is.

And for those of us who have never considered "CD quality" to be anything remarkable, let alone listenable, the thought that anyone would pay anything at all for compressed MP3 files still boggles the mind.

Then again, no one has ever gone broke by underestimating the American public.

Wednesday, January 7, 2009 05:17 PM

Enough already

Bipartisanship?

That's where the Democrats do whatever the Republicans want. As long as Harry is in charge, that's what we'll get. Nancy Pelosi will do it, too, but when questioned about it, she'll say that her hands are tied because the Democrats don't have a filibuster-proof majority in the Senate.

Honestly, if this is the best the Dems can produce in the way of "leadership", then they get what they deserve.

The truth about fairness...

...is that there is no such thing as "fairness" anywhere in the universe.

It's starts with the food chain, which is inherently unfair.

If you're small, you are there to be eatin. Yet you don't hear the plankton whining, do you?

Thursday, January 8, 2009 11:13 AM

Run or not, as long as...

...I don't have to listen to Chris Matthews laugh.

(shudder)

Wednesday, January 14, 2009 02:40 PM

I'm confused

Who are these people who comprise the 34% who think he's doing a good job?

There just aren't that many people who work in the defense, pharmaceutical or petroleum industries.

I soooo don't get it.

Thursday, January 15, 2009 01:34 PM

@anony

didn't think they need to get any of the other modifications that American women succumb to.

Let's not go casting aspersions at all American women. There are all sorts of reasons that women, American or otherwise, might elect to have breast augmentation besides simply wanting to look like strippers.

I'll let you do the research.

Thursday, January 22, 2009 02:50 PM

Or maybe not...

The truth is that 99.999% of us never give Caroline Kennedy a thought in our day to day lives. Until a month ago, I had no idea if she even had a reputation at all. As far as I knew, she was a housewife.

For most of us, the net change in opinion of her as a result of her "campaign" is zero either way.

Thursday, January 22, 2009 04:26 PM

It's very simple

The executive branch is either above the law, or it is not. Failing to do anything now will set the precedent that the executive branch may break the law with impunity.

That is unacceptable. Period.

Friday, January 23, 2009 06:01 PM

@carrisima

Obama is "pro death"?

Please name one person, just one, who will be forced to abort a baby under Obama's leadership who would not be forced to do so were McCain the president instead.

I didn't think so...

If you asked President Obama how many abortions he'd like to see performed in the United States each year, my guess is that his answer would be "zero."

Remember, it's the Republicans, with their hatred for birth control and comprehensive sex education, that make abortion necessary in the first place.

Cool

I love it when the right is upset. Makes my day.

Original article: Obama meets with House GOP

I am confident...

...that sooner or later, Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi will manage to give the Republicans everything they want.

It's just what they do.

Original article: Don't cross Rush Limbaugh

Perhaps I missed something

I didn't say anything in Gingrey's statement that criticized Limbaugh. Perhaps Rush is just a bit thin-skinned.

Original article: Quotes of the afternoon

The Democrats are the party of the "Nanny State"?

How odd that such comments should come from members of the party that have long championed both the war on drugs and blocking access to Internet gambling sites.

All to protect us from ourselves, we're told, although possession of drugs still comes with the bonus of prison time.

If the Republicans aren't nannies, how could the Democrats possibly be?
