I never think of Rachel Maddow as "Sexy", but I tend not to think of that term in describing someone or something....she is just beautiful...she has a beautiful, classic face with gorgeous eyes and a disarming smile...she is a genuinely nice person. She does not make me or my husband think "dyke" "lesbian" or "Butch" .....but then, I don't think in those terms either...

My straight, blue collar, not college educated husband and I,also straight but college educated, retired health care worker, watch her as often as we can...we like her personality, her fairness, her intelligent way of interviewing and her sense of humor...she is never coarse or rude...what's there NOT to like? She also clues those of us less informed into subtleties and nuances that other commentators and talk show hosts never quite get into...in short she doesn't talk down to us but INFORMS us!

I am trying to imagine Austen on the edge of a wilderness teaching her children to read, write, memorize Scripture and Shakespeare,and add and subtract ("do their sums")as she sewed by hand the entire familiy's clothing, milked the cow,churned the butter, baked the bread, slaughtered the chicken for supper, kept the home-fire going, literally, chopping the wood while her husband was away hunting or fighting the British in 1812, planting and caring for the all important vegetable garden with seeds she had carefully sorted, labeled and saved as precious gold ,from the previous season, and keeping the root cellar filled and as vermin free as possible.....As for her characters, say, Elizabeth Bennett's mother the immortal "Mrs. Bennett", SHE would have had neither time nor opportunity nor occasion for shopping, attending balls or tea parties to find "suitable husbands"....and, thankfully, neither did a certain brave and resourceful , SKILLED with life sustaining knowledge and abilities, Mrs. Bennett, my great, great, great, great, great grandmother who went into the Kentucky wilderness as a young woman before the U.S. Constitution !

How can a church exile someone from a STATE? I can see exile from a church, but from a town or a state? Come on!
