  • Reid must go! Dodd for Majority Leader.

[Read the article: Anatomy and significance of Monday's FISA victory]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

As this effort to date has clearly been led by the efforts of individuals such as, (primarily) Mr. Greenwald, we must not forget to thank them for their tireless efforts to shine a light on this process which usually takes place in the darkest corners of the capital. As a result, the politicians are waking up to a new reality where individuals are informed before the damage is done. They try to weasel their way out of the light, but this shows there's no place to hide.

Why is Harry Reid the Majority Leader? Can he be removed? Voted down? Asked to step down? He's clearly a failure to the majority party and American civil rights in general. With the increased level of scrutiny that the FISA effort has shown possible, why have a hack like Reid in charge? Senator Dodd would get more notice as Majority Leader at this point than he's getting as a Presidential candidate. A constitutional defender would be just the parry to the Bush administration’s final attacks during 2008.

  • I know it's been commented on, but all those republicans are making me dizzy

The obvious mistake points out how eager Alex Koppelman was to get this post out. Why? It's full of holes anyway. I thought Salon was supposed to be the best? Where's the reasoned, well considered pov? The worst thing is, as bethb10 said, he's quoting a poll that came out before the speech. That's just inexcusable. Koppelman needs a sit down with Mr. Greenwald. Having a headline like that based on an old poll quoted as "new" should be a firing offense. Shoddy workmanship.

  • @ Clivesl-Why don't you get out, instead of trying to get it?

[Read the article: The trade follies of Austan Goolsbee and Mark Penn]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Here's the thing. As Jedimaster pointed out, Penn will continue to have influence over the Clintons. They CHOSE him. They have the judgment that is typically associated with a decision like that. You can figure out what kind of judgment that is. It seems to me that it's the same type that sends evangelical republicans to Iraq to democratize without representation. Maybe it's the same kind of judgment that hires cronies to be Attorney General. It's definitely the exact same kind of judgment that hires Patti Solis Doyle and then fires her when she's had a history of ill-conceived campaign spending in the first place.

Why would you be a Clinton supporter if this type of judgment is what she exhibits under pressure? She doesn't admit mistakes, expects to win because of her and her offspring's extraordinary ability to dodge imaginary bullets and shows repeated instances of poor judgment all along the campaign trail. Which of those qualities is it that you support exactly?

Getting rid of Penn will be useless because they'll hire two more just like him. I've seen nothing to indicate that they'll start making better decisions

  • This just feels better

I don't know if it's the best post I've ever read, but War Room seems to be back! More please. Thanks and please keep it up.

  • I said two days ago they'd replace him with two guys just as bad

[Read the article: Reports of Penn's ouster may be greatly exaggerated]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

I didn't think one of them would be exactly as bad. I also said I didn't see any evidence that would make me believe the Clintons would start making better decisions. I still don't.

Do Clinton supporters really think this kind of decision-making bodes well? An 11-year-old boy actually said to me this weekend-"Maybe she'll stop lying if she's elected". Is that the mentality of the typical Clinton supporter? How scary is that?

  • That should do it for condi and colin

I don't expect to hear too much chatter about them as VP candidates anymore. These meeting will taint all that were involved forever. There probably won't be repercussions beyond that, but at least they're done for now.

  • Mukasey -Bush Administration and Parallels

[Read the article: Mukasey dishonesty update]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Lying to achieve a political goal and being exposed for it. The end clearly justifies the means, doesn’t it?

Why would anyone choose someone who readily repeats the sins of the Bush buffoons? Isn't the pattern clear? I guess if Senators Feinstein and Schumer liked Mukasey enough and enabled his confirmation he's actually a good public servant, despite his lies.

Now, let's see....who are they endorsing for President? Feinstein thinks Hillary should be president. Hmmm. I don't think Senator Schumer has endorsed officially, but he did lead Hillary to the podium when she was endorsed by former NY State governor Eliot Spitzer....wait, isn't he the one who prosecuted people for prostitution and then...oh, wait, that's not important. He was governor. Clearly, again, the end was justified by the means. He surely is someone that has shown good judgment. Let’s listen to them. These three must know what they’re doing.

  • She doesn't have to go, but I just wish she would

[Read the article: Debating the debate, complaining about complaining]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

How is this enhancing the democratic process? How? This isn't "good" politics and it's not, as Maureen Dowd said a few weeks ago, toughening Obama up. Its just b.s. and spin. Enough already. I wish she’d slip and drop the damn kitchen sink on her toe and call it a day.

  • I'm trying to imagine a world without the Democratic race for President

[Read the article: Even Santorum can't stay away]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Wouldn't the media just hate that? (Not you Steve) The Keystone state could make it happen. That would leave plenty of time for democratic reconciliation. Let the healing begin!

  • Look Out! Sniper Fire!

[Read the article: Bill Clinton and the "race card"]

Heads down everyone, they're coming in to get the Clintons again. Well, don't worry. Bill's got some defenses. He's got his impenetrable truth shield out, and he's going to guard Hill with it, to be sure. It'll keep the truth from getting too close, in case it were to do them harm. It used to have a picture of the flag on it, but now he's got a collage of Osama Bin Laden and some other terrible disasters. (First used in Bosnia in 1996)

You know what Bill says- "if one candidate is trying to scare you, and the other one is trying to make you think, if one candidate's appealing to your fears, and the other one's appealing to your hopes. You better vote for the person who wants you to think and hope." Except if it's Hillary, then vote for fear!
