The Madness of King George
[Read the article: Still looking for that pony]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I fail to see how the destruction of Lebanon will bring peace to Israel. The Israeli, with the go - ahead from the U. S., are fabricating another generation of Hezbollah sympathizers. The systematic destruction of Lebanon's civil infrastructure and the -- sometimes deliberate -- targetting of civilians are achieving nothing else than precipitating Lebanon into a horrendous economic, social, and possibly political crisis.
I do not understand why Israel could not have conducted surgical strikes against the Hezbollah instead of punishing the entire population of Lebanon. What was the point of bombing Beirut's airport out of existence? What was the point of creating an ecological disaster by bombing a utility plant and releasing thousands of gallons of fuel into the sea in the process? The Lebanese are not equipped to deal with oil spills of that magnitude. The Lebanese fishermen, however, their families, and countless others, are now out of work.
1/3 of the Lebanese population is now displaced -- i.e. -- homeless.
Any one who thinks that this wanton destruction will turn the Lebanese (and the rest of the Arab world) off the Hezbollah, is a fool.
By now, the definition of insanity is well known. Doing the same thing over and over and expecting different oucomes every time is insane. One would think that the U.S. and Isreal would have learned from history. No such chance!
Of course, had our "government" spent some time working on a peace process in the Middle East in the past six years instead of obsessing about invading and occupying Iraq, the world might be a better place.
But again, who would have thought that our President would turn out to be so intellectually deficient, so emotionally immature, so insecure, so unsophisticated, and so stupidly stubborn, that he would not have learned anything in the past six years? Bush has clearly not learned one thing over the past six years. That is why the dangerously demented Neo - cons still have so much influence over him.
It is high time that people start saying outloud that G. W. Bush is clinically insane. He fits the description of a narcissist and a sociopath perfectly. As for Cheney and Rumsfeld, they clearly are psychopaths. They are serial killers by proxy. Under different circumstances, either or both of them could have become a Ted Bundy.
The carnage in the Middle East has to stop. Someone needs to broker a cease - fire so that civilians on all sides of the conflict stop suffering from this insanity. The U.S. is clearly the candidate to be such a broker. In fact, the U.S. was always the broker under other administrations. This time, however, we hear monstruous statements such as "there can be no cease - fire unless we fix the root causes of the problem". It is akin to telling a cancer patient that he / she cannot receive treatment until the root causes of said cancer have been identified. Meanwhile, the patient suffers. In fact, the patient will probably die a horrible death.

Enough!
[Read the article: Coulter says Gore is gay, too. But she's joking about him]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Would you please stop giving Coulter any coverage?
It is obvous that she is really trying to best herself in the outrageous comment department. Why bother with her bomb - throwing statements?
Coulter is a terrorist. It is only a question of time before a demented folllower of hers acually plants a bomb at the NYT headquarters, or any other "lberal" bastion. Then, we will be able to drag her into court for inciting violence.
In the meantime, let us treat her for what she is: a vulgar little tart.

Bush in the Psychopathic Bubble
[Read the article: Bush: We have to destroy Lebanon in order to save it]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]So, our lovely leaders have decided, once again, that they know best.
They won't push for a cease - fire until a settlement is reached.
This is akin to tell a suffering cancer patient that he/she cannot be given pain medication until the root causes of said cancer are being dealt with.
How many civilians need to die for the Neo - cons to decide that it is time for a cease - fire?
As for the U.S. and Israel's position that the Hezbollah is to blame for civilian deaths, it is horse - shit. Civilians are being killed by the Israelis, with U.S. - made weapons.
Ten years ago, the IDF bombed the U. N. compound in Cana -- the same village that was hit on Sunday -- and killed 106 civilians who had taken refuge in the compound.
This time, Cana villagers tried to get shelter in the UN comppund but were turned away. The IDF targeted the compound anyway and killed 4 U. N. observers.
The only solution to this abomination is an immediate cease - fire, followed by extensive and forceful diplomatic efforts.
Unfortunately, it appears that the Bush cabal is intent on spreading more murder and mayhem in the Middle East. These people are still clinging to the idea that bringing democracy at gun point will result in a lasting peace.
It is about time that Americans realize that they are being "governed" by a bunch of blood - thirsty psychopaths.
The 20th century had Hitler, the 21st century has Cheney, Rumsfeld, and Bush.
When are Americans going to wake up to this nightmare?

Global Warming
[Read the article: Blunt vows a freeze on global warming fight]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]The Bush crowd is denying overwhelming evidence supported by hundreds of scientists.
It is not surprising. The forces behind the WH have a well-defined agenda: keep feeding the oil and gas industry. The cretin in the WH believes anything that is fed to him. The moron is so anti education, and so pathologically against science that we cannot expect anything but profound imbecility from his followers.
Burns is an ignorant, stupid, crooked, lying, piece of garbage. In other words, he is a Republican.
