Original article: Iraq: Why the media failed

Rolling Stone

We had Rolling Stone and Jon Stewart! It was good to see Seymour Hersh in RS this issue.

Original article: This is my brain on chemo

Why do we get cancer?

Spawning a new industry to help with the problems of chemotherapy may help those patients with the left-overs from that treatment. But how about this--why don't we work hard to correct the problems in our environment that cause the cancer in the first place? It is what we eat and drink as well as placing responsibility on polluters.

Not Acceptable

I think there were quite a lot of us who knew the Iraq war was wrong and the attention misplaced--we're not suffering from the problems that the gung-ho-let's-get-revenge Americans must be, if they are at all introspective. The slow bleed is somewhat satisfying. But Bush/Cheney/Rove seized so much power, did so much manipulating, made so much money for their cronies, and killed so many people, not just our sons and daughters and fathers and mothers...

Why is that acceptable in any way?

Original article: It's Obama time!

Let's Concentrate on Obama

I agree with FilthyHarry. Enough about Clinton. Didn't she spend more than she collected on her campaign? Not good economics. And speaking of dragging on so that the enthusiasm waned, didn't she quash that wonderful rush to the change that Obama brought to the primaries? It's time for you to really get behind Obama. And, by the way, Maureen Dowd actually wrote an excellent column this time, calling McCain out.

Enjoying this convention already. Very upbeat. You should be, too.

Palin = Big Oil in Lipstick

Everything about the GOP is about OIL. Iraq, now Georgia--yes, that's all about OIL. Palin is all about drilling in Alaska and then offshore, so the entire gulf will look like Houston. She brings in the far right with her limited and limiting views, which is another plus for the GOP. But Big Oil is frightened of New Energy and she will help Big Oil keep New Energy at bay. She is first and foremost about BIg Oil.

Fowler was right the first time

I wish Fowler hadn't apologized. We need more of this kind of reaction to McCain's choice.

Original article: A pile of Palin sexism

I liked it

I liked Cintra Wilson's article. I'm freaked out by Sarah Palin on many counts and I think Cintra hit them all with humor. I felt a lot better after reading it. It jolted me out of the doldrums.

Original article: Palin vs. Couric

Listening also a problem for Palin

Another incredible example of Palinspeak. I'm starting to hone in on the word "there" that she uses quite a bit. And she seems to have trouble listening. No trouble reinventing scenarios, though. I will enjoy the interviews she gives during the meetings of the governors, who are right to resent her since they have real issues to discuss. She is so good for the Democratic Party!

Kathleen speaks the truth.

Go Kathleen. I'm a Democrat but have been saying lately that conservatives have no home. The GOP has been taken over by religious zealots who are not necessarily Christian in their attitudes. For instance, they don't see that war kills more humans and ruins more families than Choice. And their priorities are? Proposition 8 over equality.

Nice to read that someone is not afraid to speak the truth.

We DID march on Washington

There were LOTS of protests in Washington (and all over the world) about the war and about tax cuts for the rich. Many more people than Glen Beck's 9/12 gathering. Just not the coverage.
