Bill Moyers may have something to say about a Pink-Purple militia, dontcha think?

When will Moyers apologize for helping LBJ and Hoover identify dastardly homosexuals in goobermint jobs?

When will Glennn's other mentor, Moannn Chompsky, apologize for avoiding taxes on his own wealth?

What is it with these hypocrites?

How can they be so sanctimoneous?

The letters thread will soon be closed. What should Glennn' next topic be?....................................................................................... Moyers? Bill Moyers?

The letters thread is now closing. Nobody is reading Glennn anymore.

His hero, Bill the Homosexual Outer, has been exposed as a self-righteous, sanctimoneous twit.

What can be more horrible than a complete hypocrite?

Those interested in real discussions by real people of current events may visit the "contentions" section of "Commentary."

You will find a very interesting piece on Glennn's mentor, Billll me later Moyers.

Jimmah Cahtah -- Is anybody old enough around here to remember stagflation, gas shortages, high unemployment and routine condescending lectures from the White House?

The market started going down in the fall of '07 as polls indicated the Carterites would be back in charge. The market discounts the future, and, with a looming Democrat victory, it rolled over, and now it is falling off a cliff.

In contrast, Reagan's tax cuts of '82 ended a lengthy bear market which lasted from JFK's assassination through June of '82. Reagan's policies brought down the Soviet Union and fueled a great bull market which brought us great prosperity for 25 wonderful years. As soon as demagogues like Reid & Pelosi were able to lick their chops, it was all suddenly over.

We now have an era of wealth destruction underway, brought to you by the same ignorance which brought our parents and grandparents the Great Depression.

@calamine: What's with the threats to ban you?

You do not post nearly as often as many of Glennn's merry little band of Jew-hating "anti Zionists" (voteber dot {'Zionist'} means??)

Does Glennn just insist on a one note chorus of slavish admirers here? Is this just supposed to be a mutual admiration society here?

Is he that fragile and that sensitive?

Regarding the "bipartisanship myth", I would agree (let him go for the most radical leftoid program we've seen in 70 years) if I didn't love this country so much.

BH0's partisan outline tonight will surely result in failure, and could easily change many faces in Congress very quickly, A bipartisan approach to our problems would have much better results than the reckless spending binge 0bama outlined tonight. This crap can't work, it has never worked before. You can't expect the top 2% of earners to fund all this pork filled stuff. Raising taxes on top income earners has a very predictable effect. It causes reported income to evaporate. The very same 2% has been the heart of small businesses which is where most new jobs are found. People react to incentives and disincentives very quickly, so the size of the group 0bama wants to fund all of his wonderful, pork filled projects will certainly shrink, and we will have to borrow more from future generations while the value of our currency sinks to newer lows.

@Macgupta

Hello, I appreciate your careful research. It is a basic fact of life that people will go to great lengths to avoid taxes. The higher they are the more they will be avoided.

This is why Dan Rostenkowsiki made a very good living as a Democrat in the same position as Barney Frank today. He made a great living making sure his rich friends got special things written into the small print of the tax code which would protect their accumulated wealth, if no one else's.

This is also why tax lawyers and accounting firms especially thrive under Democrat Regimes. They are paid to help the rich navigate the complications of the tax code.

Avoiding taxes and minimizing taxes is a mini industry in a high tax state.

A reasonable flat tax on incomes let's say above $50,000 for an individual and $75,000 for a family would not only put a huge class of scum bags out of work, it would encourage tax compliance and minimize tax avoidance.

You cannot force the top 2% to pay for just about everything. If they are smart enough to be among the top 2%, they are also smart enough to hide their wealth and avoid taxes.

Insisting on this approach, which is what people mean as class warfare, is the road to serfdom as Friedrich von Hayek described it.

The reason people clamor to come here, is because this is the land of opportunity, where, if you set your mind to it, and if you keep at it year after year, you can get rich.

People want to get rich. It's a natural desire. Turning it into something which should be condemned is another crime against human nature.

Call it collectivism or socialism or communism or progressivism, it all boils down to shit stew, my frems.

Hiya Cal, I still don't understand why Glennn has such a hard arm for you, kid.

Government policies either encourage or discourage wealth creation.

Our wealth is not a fixed thing. It is either growing or shrinking.

When the government tries to redistribute wealth, wealth disappears, and we all become equally destitute, another Soviet Union, another Argentina.

Read Hayek. He calls redistribution "a fatal conceit," and he's right.

I am reading "My Life In Stalinist Russia," by Mary Leder. It is absorbing and eye opening, tho something tells me Glennn will not want to read it, it might confuse him and challenge his rigid politics. Mary settles in Russia with her American parents in the early 30's. They are good progressives, drawn there to a new Jewish homeland.
