Please try to explain the breeding value of women. You mention it twice. I do agree that women do not command nearly the respect they deserve in our society. What could we do without them? I think the infusion of women into our work force has been an amazing and wonderful thing. I would not be nearly as successful without the many women colleagues and team mates I have had over the years. You are not saying that women are only worthy because of the sexual pleasure they provide, are you? And, do you have a problem with the breeding thing? Your mother bred, sir/madam, and, there you are, right? You wouldn't be there without her having 'bred', right?
Also, don't you find it strange that so many feminists circled the wagons around Bill Clinton, a man who had no respect for women at all, or only respected those who would eagerly satisfy his sexual demands? Why did Packwood have to go while Clinton had to stay? Is there one set of guidelines for self-professed way cool progressives, and another set of guide lines for the rest of us?
And, it's good to ask "Who started all this meanspiritedness?" Who cast the first stone? Who uttered the first insult? I was not unhappy to see Tom Daschle dascheled, and I must say, I was happy when this Greenwald outed him as a corrupt little scumbag. I remember when Daschle coined the phrase, "meanspirited Republican," and, from then on, we were no longer simply Republicans we had to grit our teeth as we were constantly referred to as 'meanspirited R...'s, as in "horse and buggy," you can't have one without the other (Frank Sinatra)
And, then Mr./Ms. Peeps, you bring up "when money is to be made." Do you really think that today's progressives do not care about money? Speaking of Bill, do you think he doesn't wake up each and every morning thinking about how he can raise yet more tens of millions for his slush fund I man library in Arkansas? Do you think our recently defrocked governor here doesn't care about money? The honor among thieves you mention is truly awful, especially the seeming honor among corrupt politicians who feel entitled to steal from the public's trust, don't you think? Or, do you think it is perfectly norman for Congressman Jefferson to have wads of $100 dollar bills stashed in his freezer? Do you think he may just be an eccentric who does't like banks?
You also maintain that conservatives/Republicans/libertarians are "immune to reason." I think you are wrong again. We reason just like you do. For instance, this Greenwald is very intelligent and has an extremely well trained mind and is excellent at arguing his cases. The other Greenwald over at "Commentary"s" 'Contentions' is just as bright and just as reasonable. He (and I) just come to different conclusions.
Is it really "unreasonable" to disbelieve that more and more money thrown at more and more government programs will work wonders, and make us all equal and make us all act nice to each other? I say disbelieve for good reason because this remedy has not worked in the past. It's actually caused lots of problems in the past. It is very reasonable to expect that running printing presses overtime to foul our currency to fund ever increasing government programs will not only not work too well, based on experience, (not hope, experience), doing this again will probably take us all down the path to ruin again.
