I gather it is very easy for even non Jews who visit Israel not to come away with an emotional attachment. Many of those Congressmen and Congresswomen have made the trip. I gather it is quite an experience to get up in a small plane or helicopter and see just how small and vulnerable a country Israel is. So why is an emotional attachment toward Israel and a sympathetic understanding of Israelis such a bad thing?

Many of you have an emotional animus AGAINST Israel. Even a Jew like Mooser, otherwise a fine and funny fellow, rants and raves here on a daily basis against the "Zionists" he hates.

My wife is British. She never met her uncle because he died serving England in WWII. That war lasted 6 years. I wonder what our British posters would be like (London Lad and Maureeen) if the Blitz was still happening.

Israel has been subjected to invasive wars of annihilation and terror attacks for over 50 years now. Unlike us, no one in Israel can remember a time of peace. Yet, many I know criticize Israelis for being bellicose and tough. Think of what we'd be like if we were still fighting WWII.

Glenn and most of you have no idea what it is like to be born and to grow up in a nation which is constantly under siege. There are even Jews here like Greenwald and Mooser who just don't seem to care to think about what it must be like to live under siege in Israel.

The resentment you feel about the role of Israel in American life is telling. You tell American Jews who support Israel to leave and go there if we love Israel so much.

Well fuck you. My Grandparents helped to build this country and so have I. My father served us in the Philippines and my step Dad in France. I served in Vietnam. I and my relatives here have built schools, and hospitals, and shopping centers and homes, and produced films and TV series and worked with disadvantaged children and their parents. Who are you to tell us to go away and move to Israel?

Sure, this could snowball out of control and escalate into a world wide disaster. You can keep smashing Israel and think that your collective protest might stop you from getting hurt in some looming disaster.

Wouldn't it make sense to insist that the Arabs and Muslims finally call a stop to their 50+ year war on Israel? Wouldn't make sense to insist they stop teaching their kids to hate Jews as some kind of vermin? Wouldn't it make sense to demand they stop embezzling aid money?

For some reason that path is not so attractive to Glenn and his chorus here.

I wonder why.
