I was raised by a feminist, and she assures me that there was mass uprising and unity once, but particularly since I started reading feminist blogs I have felt completely alienated. "White feminists" are throwing POC under the bus, and stripping is the new bra burning, and we are way too cool to get excited over the prospect of the first female president.

I believe in equality between the sexes, which is the definition of feminism, but I am disgusted by the mess that 'organized' feminism has become.

I'm sure it will be all about how silly and unrealistic the portrayal of the First Lady is. This is what's wrong with feminism today - apparently reducing an important female figure to the sum of her body parts doesn't bother 'feminists.'

Seriously, though, SOME men have higher sex drives than some women - and yet many, many men are able to get along quite well with women and in society without copping huge resentments about not having access to willing sex partners 24/7. Why? 'Cuz a mature adult is one who has learned that he or she isn't going to get what they want 24/7, accepts that fact, and goes on about their life without a huge chip on their shoulder about it.

I 100% guarantee you that the majority of prostitutes are too busy trying getting the cash and getting a fix to "vet" potential johns. The whole 'not enough time to vet' argument is a red herring.

Rehabilitation in lieu of incarceration is a great opportunity for people with chemical dependency who get picked up for various things like theft or prostitution. Legalizing prostitution sounds to me like a well-intentioned way of saying "go ahead and self-destruct, we won't try to stop you or slow you down."

The 'crime' many johns are committing is self-centered apathy to the human misery they are often party to.
