no way

"we should push the fear that the Democrapic president IS abusing all the unconstitutional spying powers that Congress will have, by then, granted him/her"

We'd have another Timonth McVeigh in no time. The army has already been infiltrated with his ideological compatriots in Iraq.

One of them comes back home from Iraq, listens to Rush Limbaugh telling him he's been stabbed in the back by liberal cockroaches who love Islamofascists, hears about how liberal totalitarian fascist communist Obama has become a dictator, takes Ann Coulter up on her suggestion and bombs the New York TImes.

Jonah Golberg endorsed this guy

Remember, Obama has voted against telecom immunity. Which makes him a fascist to cartoon conservatives.

http://stoptheaclu.com/archives/2008/02/13/more-on-the-fascist-element-in-obamas-appeal/

History never repeats itself but sometimes it comes close. Obama is NOT a Fascist insofar as the Fascists were patriotic and Obama is the sort of America-hater that is now typical of the Left. Right up to JFK, the American Left was patriotic. It no longer is. And sometimes Obama doesn’t even bother to pretend — as we see below

But in matters other than patriotism — the appeal for unity, the preaching of “change”, the vague but inspiring rhetoric and the automatic turning to government as the solution to every problem — Obama is quite Fascist.

Got that? Calls for national unity are fascist ... when a Democrat does it.

These are words that move and uplift, that give hope to the hopeless. These words inspired millions of voters nationwide to join the grand experiment called democracy, casting votes for their candidate, their country, their destiny:

“More than anything else, I want my candidacy to unify our country, to renew the American spirit and sense of purpose. I want to carry our message to every American, regardless of party affiliation, who is a member of this community of shared values . . . For those who have abandoned hope, we’ll restore hope and we’ll welcome them into a great national crusade to make America great again!”

So Ronald Reagan proclaimed on July 17, 1980, as he accepted his party’s nomination for president at the Republican National Convention in Detroit, Mich.

and even if ...

Even if a non-"leftist" becomes a dictator and start killing people, they had it coming for being "leftists."

http://dissectleft.blogspot.com/

R.I.P. Augusto Pinochet. Pinochet deposed a law-defying Marxist President at the express and desperate invitation of the Chilean parliament. He pioneered the free-market reforms which Reagan and Thatcher later unleashed to world-changing effect. That he used far-Leftist methods to suppress far-Leftist violence is reasonable if not ideal. The Leftist view that they should have a monopoly of violence and that others should follow the law is a total absurdity which shows only that their hate overcomes their reason

sick of Democrats game of 3 card monty

Same thing over and over again. Mouth opposition to Bush and then roll over for him with the intention of giving the perception that they are opposed to Bush but can't do anything about him because of blah blah [insert excuse of choice]

At the same time, they aparently hope to innoculate themselves against GOP smearing as weak on national security by giving in on these issues...

Over and over again this same thing happens. Democrats have to have the worst strategists in the world. What this behavior does is dishearten Democratic voters who feel betrayed while simultaneously reinforcing the GOP narrative of Democrats being weak on national security.

If I believed in such a thing as God I would pray to it for opposition politicians who say to Hell with strategists and did what their concience says is the right thing to do. On second thought, I supposed I would have to also pray for opposition politicians that have a conscience that understands how democracy and the open society works in the first place.

Original article: The "Rezko" game

the Limbaugh Right

I prefer Gore's terminology: the Limbaugh-Drudge-Hannity axis of misinformation.

Couple of points:

George W. Bush was found of wrongdoing by the SEC in a deal that dwarfs the one that sent Martha Stewart to jail. How many people even know about that, or that further investigation by the SEC was killed by a lawyer close to Bush and his father?

I love how Hannity and all the rest keep talking about Obama's "associations" with the guy that was part of the WeatherMen. Um, David Horowitz anyone? Where as there is nothing whatsoever linking Obama to the left-wing radicalism of the Weathermen, there is something that very much links the Bush administration and the GOP to the radicalism of David Horowitz

Horowitz's Art of Political War was distributed to Republicans and movement conservative activists by Delay before the 2000 elections. Here's a choice quote

Politics is war conducted by other means. In political warfare you do not fight just to prevail in an argument, but to destroy the enemy's fighting ability. . . . In political wars, the aggressor usually prevails. ... You cannot cripple an opponent by outwitting him in a political debate. You can do it only by following Lenin's injunction: 'In political conflicts, the goal is not to refute your opponent's argument, but to wipe him from the face of the earth

and

GOP smear merchants will still characterize Democrats as weak on defense.

Their behavior just helps reinforce it.

What, no slip-and-slide?

It's really nice of McCain to give the future courtiers a party for all their help.

PublishersWeekly

I noticed that review and was going to e-mail you something pointing out that Publisher's Weekly has a streak of conservative leaning reviews. I check out the description of political books at Amazon regularly and the dismissive Publisher's Weekly review is a regular occurrence
