He's Experienced and He's Smart...
[Read the article: Joe Biden lets it all hang out]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Okay, so he throws cow-patties in his own path and steps right in. Don't we all. I find his intelligent candor very appealing and I like his ability to see the bigger picture. He was the first to suggest the 3-state approach to Iraq - way back when it might even have worked. Now may be too late, just as he said in your interview. But he isn't short-sighted and his experience speaks volumes above and beyond many in this race. We could a hell of a lot worse than Joe Biden.
I've been saying for over a year that he's my guy. I wish more voters would join me.

MAYBE This is WHY NOW
[Read the article: The Democrats' responsibility in the wake of Gonzales' resignation]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I heard a caller from Texas to the Ed Schultz Show about 10 or 12 days ago urging listeners to call or write the State Bar of Texas to file a formal complaint against Gonzo for perjury before Congress.
According to the caller, any such complaint triggers an investigation by our State Bar Association. No exceptions.
I would speculate the the TBA got many, many formal complaints sent to them after the show. Maybe this is the answer to Why Now? If nothing else, he may actually be disbarred.

How Can They Defend Another Capitulation?
[Read the article: The Iraq debate: Caving in before it begins?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Every legitimate poll taken over the past year shows a clear majority of Americans are opposed to the way the war is being conducted. That's AMERICANS - Republicans and Democrats, alike.
Every independent study on conditions in Iraq shows
(a) precious little progress made by the Iraqi government in meeting Bush's once all-important benchmarks, (b) incompetence and widespread corruption throughout the Iraqi military and security forces and (c) rampant graft, corruption and incompetence by U.S. and foreign contractors sent there to rebuild Iraq's infrastructure.
Yet, our elected officials continue to fund this war. Ignoring the wishes of those who voted for them, they continue to acquiesce to every misguided decision the Bush administration makes and every request for more time to hold our troops there.
This, despite the above-mentioned reports that show the American people oppose the war and that troops cannot make the Iraqi government - or its people - unite as one.
I have a simple question for those legislators who acquiesce in their next vote on funding: Why?

He's Insulting Our Intellegience (Again)
[Read the article: Cherry-picking and sugarcoating]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Presenting 'facts' so easily checked and refutable, Mr. Bush is once again hoping Americans are dumber than a bucket of rocks.
Declaring 'success' as the reason some troops will be coming home early next year is the most insulting example, followed closely by his taking credit for the relative calm in Anbar.
What in the name of God (irony intended) is it going to take to stop this lunatic? Do the Republicans REALLY think that 60-70 dead soldiers per month is an acceptable price to pay to continue stalling while what's left of the Iraqi government proves it cannot meet even half of it's own benchmarks?
Call your representatives - especially, if like I, you are plagued with a multitude of Righties, and tell them they need to be looking for Plan B. Not on the war, since discussing it is a hopeless cause with most of the GOP.
The Plan B I'm referring to here is for the next phase of their careers, after they are voted out of office, if they don't join the majority of Americans and stop this lunacy.

We're Not ALL Idiots
[Read the article: Texans turn against Bush's war]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I was born in Dallas and raised in a Republican household. In my 20's I turned left. Viet Nam, Richard Nixon and Kent State assured that I forever would view the world differently from the way my family and most of their friends viewed it.
Even my Republican brother, when W decided to run for president, said to a Republican friend of his, "How does being the governor of Texas qualify someone to be president of the United States?" His friend replied, "Who said he was qualified?"
Here in Austin, 20,000 of us showed up when Obama came to speak. The venue had to be moved to Auditorium Shores - a wide-open area next to the river downtown - because the original indoor site would not accommodate all the requests for tickets to the event.
My 75-yr-old friend Emily, a lifelong Republican, called Nancy Pelosi's comment line to demand that she put Impeachment back on the table. Every Friday she and I listen to Ed Schultz - and I have given her a radio so she can listen to him during the week in her apartment. She is embarrassed that Bush is a Texan and believes he has brought shame to us all.
Another friend, 91-year-old (Phi Beta Kappa) Rose, voted Republican all her life until 2004. When she learned that Kerry had lost she cried. The Gonzo fiasco can still cause her blood pressure to sky-rocket.
My very Republican cousins from East Texas became forever anti-Bush with the Terri Schiavo nonsense.
We have a terrific candidate, Iraq war vet Rick Noriega, who is running to oust Sen. John Cornyn in '08. Maybe John and Alberto, whom Cornyn shamelessly defended to the bitter end, will join ranks here and open their own law firm. They'd both be good at Criminal Defense.
Today my brother credits Bush with single handedly destroying the Republican party. My friends and I sincerely hope he's correct.

HOLY CRAP - Feinstein's Getting Rich off the War???
[Read the article: Dianne Feinstein, symbol of the worthless Beltway Democrat]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I had no idea Feinstein's husband is a defense contractor.
Pretty much says it all, doesn't it?

What to Do? Fight Dirty !
[Read the article: Dianne Feinstein, symbol of the worthless Beltway Democrat]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]This only occurred to me over the weekend, but if Pelosi, et. al., aren't ready to hang the Armani in the closet and get down in the mud, they need to step the hell aside and let someone who will.
The Democratic leadership needs to 'convince' obstructionists to vote with them the old-fashioned way:
Blackmail.
Hire some PI's to rummage through their laundry, find the dirt and threaten to expose them if they don't vote the will of the people.
They'd be making J. Edgar Hoover and pols of old proud.
And they would be - finally - fighting just as dirty as the Republicans have been for years.
