Great recommendation on the factchecker.org. I wish more people would use it.
On the taxpolicycenter.org, I would like clarification on something you quoted. I have the website open, but I am hoping for some clarity here
"Those in the TOP 1 pecent would see a $19,000 average increase in taxes-- a 1.5% reduction"
This is what I struggle with Taxspeak. Care to shed a little light on this?
Don't you want a candidate who can speak and think on their feet? Like Obama? Like Biden?
I have not seen the interview yet, but the last person running for President that could really think and talk on his feet was Bill Clinton. When Senator Biden shoots from the hip, I always get the feeling that the Obama camp puckers a little. I don't think it is partisan to say he has a tendency to go off topic.
Senator Obama has demostrated that he suffers off prompter sometimes as well.
Don't you want a candidate that doesn't have to go to political "boot camp" in order to be up to speed on things average citizens know well?
I can't understand the strategy of labeling Governor Palin as a neophyte helps. Other than running for President the past 19 months, Obama has very little experience on the world stage. It is just a fact.
So before you jump on the bandwagon, let's see how Palin performs in the debate. I think we might see that Biden was right and Obama should have picked Hilary.
You sir, are correct. My apologies for clogging bandwidth with useless BS.
Point taken.
As MAY recall, Bush was actually elected twice. I voted for him the first time and not the second. Wow, imagine someone enacting his right to vote for whomever he wants.
The reason I came out swinging at you, is that you debate like a child. "fuck off", etc. Once you reduce yourself to name calling you lose.
Call me a neocon if you wish, but I am not even sure what that is. Do you? Really, other than the bile you spew, do you know what it is? I could care less what it means. I am an American. I happen to love my country and thank God that I am fortunate enough to live here.
I suspect, on the other hand, that you are a bitter, reactionary chronic wannabe who desperately wants to be heard, but no one in the real world would listen to so you spew nonsense here. I could be wrong, but I think not. Dude, grow up. There are better more effective word in the English language to argue you point. Please use them.
You remind me of conservatives in the late 90's that could beat President Clinton, so you wanted to have him impeached. Your hatred for President Bush obfuscates your ability to think clearly. Democrats were elected to House and Senate majority because they were the anti-Bush, but they haven't really capitalized on that, have they?
In terms of nukes, I am not a physicist, nor would I want to be. I can tell you that I have been to Hiroshima, and visited the museum there. I walked the city and observed the drastic contract of the layout of the city to the rest of Japan. I can tell you that it is a very humbling experience. I also know that without dropping those two bombs, the US and Japanese casualties would have been far greater had we attempted an invasion. I am glad Harry Truman had to make that call instead of me.
Good night Godot, and lighten up a little. You will live longer.
Well as you seem to respond better to name calling, I will speak your language. I did not vote for Bush. I voted for Kerry. I voted for Bush in 2000, Clinton in 92 and 96, Bush in 88, and Reagan in 84. In other words, I vote for whomever I think is on the right track at the time, with the information that I have.
I am a proud Independent, who care more about his country than partisan BS.
You, on the other hand, sound like a miserable, whiny, taker who only wants to rant and complain about those that oppose your view instead of using intelligent discourse to reach an understanding.
So, please go ahead and prove my point with one of your gutless verbal attacks, and demonstrate to me that you are incapable of anything but partisan "hackery". I will be waiting....
You keep name calling with "Wingnut", "Neocon", or whatever name Randi Rhodes is feeding you today. I can't see that you have actually made a point. Show your intelligence instead of leveraging the "gotcha" mentality of the current political cycle.
@Willa Standing
The irony of your complaint is fantastic. You so eloquently typify what Paglia asserts. So long as you react emotionally and viscerally to Sarah Palin you will fail to recognize the impact she will continue to have on the political landscape of the country.
As a conservative independent I strive to read a myriad of information about the candidates. I also frequent factcheck.org to see who is spinning what. So buck up, do some research and don't fall into the trap of simply calling Sarah Palin names because you are frustrated by the choice.
