@scuzzaman

Incredibly ironic and ironically incredible that here on UT, where Mr Greenwald tirelessly chronicles the indisputable truth that what the mouthpieces of our governments serve up daily is fiction entire, where liberal progressives flock to rhetorically bathe his feet in their crocodile tears over the millions of dead and destitute because of our wars built entirely on these same fictions, where skepticism and the old liberal motto of "Question Authority!" are practiced to a degree never before achieved by mere homo sapiens; that here there remains one official conspiracy theory that it is heresy to question.

I believe that somewhere in this gaseous prose is buried the idea that who "did" 9/11 is indeed a viable topic for discussion on Mr. Greenwald's blog, in spite of the fact that he has indicated otherwise.

Original article: My evil iPhone

"With over 50,000 apps available..."

For a long time the PC crowd used the "more apps available" line, to dubious effect...it sounds equally lame when voiced by iPhone nuts.

I don't need a bic lighter on my cell phone screen.

@MrMojo

If you have a beef against the iPhone based on personal experience, let's hear it...

My beef is only against the apple fanboys, hipsters and techo masturbators who have turned the telephone into a repository of all things groovy.

not everything that is popular is good

Slavery used to be very popular.

Crackpipes are also very popular within a certain demographic.

sure she's pretty enough

but I can pick any picture of a woman I want to!

Wednesday, August 26, 2009 08:41 AM

maybe she needs to add wizards to her story

wizards and a magic ring or something.

but the influence of these people is waning.

remove the earlobes

also the end of the ring finger is not really needed.

it's just for safety and freedom from dangerous diseases.

you might try meditation

you can do it during meetings. You don't have to close your eyes or cross your legs...just focus on your breathing.

However if someone asks you a question and you're not paying attention it might be embarrassing.

double down on hate

the right is never going to muzzle their freaks.

so hate-vs-hate would be the way to go...it seems to disorient them.

@audioscape

IWC is a voluntary international organisation and is not backed up by treaty. Therefore, the IWC, in essence, is a voluntary organisation which has substantial practical limitations on its authority. First, any member countries are free to simply leave the organisation and declare themselves not bound by it if they so wish.

- wikipedia

In the past, Japan has changed its position on IWC issues due to pressure from the US. It is reasonable to assume that they don't agree with the commission, are in the organization due to political pressure from other countries, and seek to curcumvent these whaling rules (not laws), as they obviously don't agree with them.

"Meditation (at least the kind I practice) is not meant to help you escape your circumstances."

Meditation can be used to help prevent anger (the LW sounds very angry).

This does indeed mean "escaping your circumstances", if only for 30 seconds. Better to be gone for a moment than to be angry for the next half hour.

as someone who attended cc in addition to a "name brand" university

I think it's unfortunate that this show seems to emphasize the "community college loser" stereotype as a source of yuks.

well what should I expect from someone who views Caddyshack as a cultural high-water mark

maybe we need some shows featuring midgets in blackface biting the heads of chickens, or gay people "doing that gay thing", for the merriment of all!

the more deadpan, stupid, "ironic", lowbrow, and insulting, the better.

it is ironic to me that Giant Bastard mentioned Gillligan's Island

certainly one of the best shows ever on TV, although the anti-merchant marine angle is actually quite justified and is probably the only thing i have against the show.

Alan Hale is a genius imho.

GG follows at least one of the core principles of american journalism:

please the core audience

Tuesday, September 1, 2009 02:35 PM

a non-issue

neither Greenwald nor his readers seem to care if he ever has a wider audience anyway. so the "choice" between remaining true to certain values, or selling out, has already been made and is presented only academically as a sort of value-preening.

Tuesday, September 1, 2009 04:00 PM

@Glenn Greenwald

http://www.quantcast.com/salon.com

By way of contrast, CNN reaches a monthly audience of about 22 million...roughly ten times larger.

Tuesday, September 1, 2009 04:26 PM

@rrheard

To accept another arrangement would fundamentally change who Glenn is and the importance of what he does.

My take on Mr. Greenwald is that he largely preaches to the converted inside internet-land.

GG seems to suggest otherwise, implying that he has significant influence somewhere (which is why trolls such as myself seek to undermine his dominion).

whatever.

@Bill Owen

I was comparing Salon (a leading internet site that has been online for over ten years) with CNN, a leading cable news network.

Just to make it clear for you...writers are often associated financially with these things called media outlets.

Which is actually related to the topic at hand, unlike your dim-bulb post.
