Hillary and me

Hillary's whole career has been bound up with the Democratic party - it's her lifeblood, her life. She could no more leave it than leave her (wonderful) daughter. The only way she can survive in the Democratic party is to forego encouraging, or even leading, a revolution (i.e., hello third party). Millions of Hillary's supporters, on the other hand, feel free to render judgment on the party which has so badly betrayed her, and Bill, and us - a great part of its traditional base, this primary season. Our judgment, expressed in the form of our vote, is the only power we have left, the only means we have of trying to bring the Democratic party to its senses, back to its roots, back to its traditional core values (think FDR, think Truman, and yes, Bill Clinton).

Lack of qualifications aside, Barack Obama gives no evidence at all of sharing in, of supporting these traditional Democratic values. In fact, he gives every sign of being a DINO. Therefore, he is not a candidate we are willing to accept, no matter how often Hillary might urge us to do so. In the final analysis, we are Hillary supporters - not Hillary followers. Four years of McCain, especially with a Democratic majority in Congress, won't kill us. That is, if the Democrats manage to develop a spine.

Dead aim, NYshooter

Yup, I think you scored a bulls eye on this one. (Soooo, how many yards of concrete ya got, anyways?)

The Clintons are a class act - unlike many posters on this site

This site has been filled for months and months with the most vile characterizations of Bill and Hillary Clinton, and Hillary's staunch supporters. Sorry, but it is absolutely stomach turning to see those who have been so vicious towards the Clintons, suddenly do an about face now that Hillary is safely out of the running and deemed to have sufficiently propped up Obama (for the moment, anyway - it's never enough). How to describe this appalling behavior? The phrase craven hypocrisy comes to mind, but actually doesn't begin to suffice. Shame, deep shame on all of you.

@ahoy - shame on you

the Dems couldn't ask for anything better than another hurricane bearing down on New Orleans just as the Republican conventions gets underway with good ole Fly Over George. Beautiful.

My husband just pulled out of our driveway here in Central Texas. He's heading to New Orleans, our pre-Katrina home, to evacuate his 86-year old mother, and his 62-year old sister, who's undergoing her last round of chemo as I write.

Sorry, but for some of us, Katrina is hardly some convenient marker to be maximized to Obama's benefit. Yes, I detest George W. Bush for his stunningly cavalier attitude towards Katrina victims. My husband and I were among them. However, I equally deplore callous people like you who are capable of trivializing the immense tide of Katrina suffering for political benefit. This is way beyond cheap, but it's all too illustrative of the 'new' Democratic party, another heart breaker in its own right.

A very, very smart pick

So much for the meme that PUMA consists of a) a few dozen bitter Hill harpies, or b) a cabal of paid Repub trolls. Sarah Palin is McCain's answer to the horrendous misogyny and sexism recently unmasked in the Dem party. The piper has come calling and the price may well be too steep for the DNC coffers. Hmmmm, maybe there is a tiny bit of justice, after all?

Original article: John McCain's female card

X-chromosome cipher???

So, what's that make Obama? A negroid nonentity?

News for you, Mr. Kamiya - Sarah Palin is a state governor, with the highest approval rating in the country (Alaska Dems apparently like her just fine). In the executive experience realm, governor trumps (part-time) senator hands down. And it looks like Sarah Palin has actually accomplished something during her gubernatorial tenure. Things like, oh, corruption busting (compare and contrast: the Chicago Way).

Guess some guys, especially those on the left, just can't handle their misogyny. Compared to the right, y'all are starting to look like a bunch of knee jerk Neanderthals. Lovely. Just lovely.

@base

All I can say after reading your post, is: your screen name couldn't be any more a propos.

The hell with all of you bastards

Tell us, Joe, just how is Sarah Palin a token, while Obama is not? Fact is, the woman has more damned 'experience' than Obama has. So does Hillary Clinton.

Keep it up, boyz. McCain now has my vote, because I'm sick to death of the frigging sexism and misogyny and snobbery and bone deep nastiness oozing from the so-called left. Consider mine a protest vote come November. Because that's exactly what it's going to be. And the longer you keep this b.s. up, the more company I'll have.

NO ONE on this site

Was more outraged at George W. Bush for his callous treatment of Katrina victims. NO ONE was more outraged at the gutting of FEMA, something which contributed greatly to the breakdown in aid and consequent suffering in New Orleans. New Orleans was my home at the time and when Bush showed up in Jackson Square, bathed by those eerie blue lights set up in a sea of...nothing, it was all I could do to not smash the TV screen.

But here's the thing. You see, lessons have obviously been learned. Matters were handled far differently this time and hopefully will be in the future, no matter the party in power, no matter the nature of whatever disaster may come along. Therefore, I simply cannot begrudge any points the Republican party may accrue as a consequence of Gustav.

In a decent world, loss and suffering do not constitute political pawns, they are not partisan. They are simply part of the human condition. No political party has a corner on virtue (something the Democratic party has amply demonstrated in the past months). What I'm thinking is that the demonization dynamic has absolutely got to stop. Immediately. Some of us are absolutely choking on the ugliness.

@david-smith

Thanks for providing yet another example of the very ugliness my post deplores.
