@KcM

Edwards knows damn well that Hillary Clinton actually cares about the people - blue collar workers, the poor, the uninsured - whom Edwards has long portrayed as his raison d'etre as a politician. Whereas Obama merely gives these constiuent groups lip service - when he even bothers to acknowledge their existence. Also, Edwards previously said he wouldn't be making any endorsement until ALL the voters had spoken. So yeah, this IS betrayal all right.

No cigar, KcM

You will note that I did not allude to race in my post. I simply referred to "blue collar, uninsured, the poor". How in the hell did you infer that I was making any racial distinctions? The fact is, you didn't, but you thought you'd take a shot anyway. This underhandedness is all too typical of Obama supporters and it ain't making your candidate a lot of friends. In fact, the list of his enemies is growing by the day. Keep it up and you'll wake up this November to a McCain landslide.

@delores

I'm quite serious, you vote for John McCain in the general election, you will be a traitor to feminism, which is far bigger than petty differences over personality, but it IS about significant policies our country desperately needs right now to better protect us as women from the infringments of corporations and the frightening Republican-Bush wing of government...

Hillary Clinton addresses women's issues on her campaign site (as does McCain). Obama doesn't. Hillary Clinton has fought for women's rights - including abortion rights - for many years. Obama addresses random women as "sweetie" and plays footsie with those who oppose legal abortion. Hillary has fought for women and children not just in this country, but around the world. She has a book to her credit called "It Takes A Village", which directly addresses the needs of children. Obama has written about himself - twice (big surprise). Obama didn't care if women and children living in Rezko's South Side slum housing had heat and running water, much less a roof over their heads. Hillary Clinton has been a staunch supporter of other women running for higher office (some of whom have repaid her by stabbing her in the back). Obama betrayed his first political mentor, Alice Palmer, when he first decided to run for office in Illinois. If you can name a single woman whose career has been advanced by Obama, go right ahead. Hillary Clinton has been a role model for countless women of her age and for those coming behind her. On numerous occasions, while characterizing Hillary, Obama has publicly humiliated her and alluded to sexist stereotypes (and yes, I've seen the juvenile, disgusting YouTube videos). And Obama's surrogates have done the same.

So, you tell me why I should regard Barack Obama as any better than John McCain when it comes to valuing and respecting the rights and needs of women and children.

@KcM - implicit? be explicit

KateTex, the racial argument you were making was implicit in your terms. And you know exactly what I was talking about. You've done it before.

Okay, either be explicit about how I was being implicit, or just shut the hell up. I am sick and tired of this phony racist b.s. which you and your fellows have been shoving down the throats of Clinton supporters for months now. Guess what? Ever hear the one about crying wolf? If not, look it up. Those Grimm brothers were onto something.

First of all, let me say that you are among the few reasonable Obama supporters I have run across on this site (or any other political site in the blogosphere). And I do appreciate that.

As for your saying, "There have been sexist videos on You-Tube, but I'm not going to blame him for what is not a part of his campaign...",

One of the videos which have disgusted me is the recent and rather infamous 'middle finger' incident which features Obama himself. I can't interpret this one as anything other than utterly disrespectful toward Hillary Clinton. Obama knew why that audience was laughing and he got a good smirk out of it himself. The other one is the 'dirt on his shoe' video in which Obama tries to look real street while once again diminishing Hillary in a really crude way. Both of these examples make Obama look not only spiteful but terribly juvenile, hardly a 'nice guy' or Oval Office material.

Re the 'women's section' on Obama's website: this isn't about what Obama has accomplished or would like to accomplish in the way of issues which strongly affect women. It's all about what women can do for him. For me, this is all too typical of Obama's approach: in the end, it seems to be all about him - not about this country's fundamental integrity, its unique pluses, its sometimes excruciating journey through time, or its crying needs. I just don't get the feeling that Obama cares about anything other than Obama. And there's really not a hell of a lot I can do about that.
