It doesn't matter how CNN is 'framing' today's Obama moment. I've been reading tons of reader comments on various news sites for over two months now and one of the strongest messages I'm getting is that, by and large, Americans who are even half awake no longer believe one-tenth of what the MSM have to say these days on matters political. In fact, tons of Americans have become quite cynical and feel pretty betrayed by what passes for news and commentary these days. If this weren't the case, Hillary Clinton would be down to about a one percent approval rating. She is holding onto, even gaining, supporters in spite of not only the MSM, but also news and opinion sources which fancy themselves at least ten cuts above the likes of Chris Matthews.

With headlines like this one: "Misdirection Alert: Worry about Wright, not the whore, I mean war, monster, I mean monger",

your screen name should be 'bas'. Perhaps 'femme hater bas'.

Don't suppose you've read the wonderful poem, "Rise, Hillary, Rise" by Angelou, a rather stirring tribute to Hillary? I daresay Ms. Angelou is very much capable of deciding who gets to, uh, "trot her out". That was low, KCB, real low.

So you told your 25 year old daughter that "everybody hates Black folks"? I understand that your post touches on something very personal for you, but why are you setting your daughter up for a lifetime of racial paranoia? There is no racial or religious group on earth which is hated by "everybody". By framing humanity in such a way, you are doing a tremendous disservice not only to your daughter but also to the many millions who hate no one, who instead struggle to understand life in the other persons's shoes.

  • Pretty perverse

This is akin to airlifting more deck chairs onto the Titanic. Looks like another suicide season for the Democrats. Just terrific.

  • Pick your poll

This just in: a CBS/NYTimes survey conducted last Friday through Monday (before the 'outrage' speech and consequent fall-out) turned up these numbers:

"In a head-to-head race between Mr. Obama and Mr. McCain, both candidates are backed by 45 percent of the registered voters. In a race between Mrs. Clinton and Mr. McCain, 48 percent back Mrs. Clinton, while 43 percent back Mr. McCain."

Looks like Clinton comes out ahead on this one. In any case, the only thing that counts, if victory is of any consequence, is the match-up with McCain.

Saying that "Obama is hoping voters are smart. Hillary is hoping voters are stupid." is just one more illustration, among many thousands, of why Obama cannot hope to win. It's his supporters, stupid.

  • By the numbers

I posted this on another thread, but I'll repeat it here, since the other thread is proving a bit morbund.

I can't make heads or tails of either of your posts. At any rate, the match-up numbers are as valid as any other poll numbers out there. And by the way: in this same survey, a larger number of Obama supporters indicated they would vote for Clinton in the general, than vice-versa.

And I say, "As for me, I can't imagine why anyone who's both intelligent and kind could possibly not want Clinton to win." Apparently, the beauty of any candidate is indeed in the eye of the beholder.

"I'm also very close to positive that KateTex is another one [troll], for the reason I mentioned before; when she's on a tear she says things that no sane progressive would ever, ever say. Then again, she might just be nuts."

Wow, you know some progressives who are still sane after all these months? Not even close to paranoid? If so, Salon surely could use some new blood.

"Anyone? Exactly what chain of events could possibly lead to a Clinton win?"

Here's my best guess: the SDs get together and form a non-suicide pact. Bingo - Clinton's in!

  • Obama fatigue, and betrayal

I can't be the only voter Out Here experiencing severe Obama fatigue. It's gotten to where I can't stand the sound of his voice and I scroll past photos of him as fast as possible. This campaign season has degenerated into Gosh, How's Obama Feeling Today? Meanwhile, Hillary Clinton gets short shrift, not to mention the shiv, and real issues (you know, things other than fat ankles) disappear into the void. The utter selfishness of the Obama campaign is now to be rewarded by SDs such as Andrew trying to short circuit the voting process? Looks like the only people who are really pulling for Hillary are, gasp, the voters. And we will not be best pleased should the Democratic powers that be force Obama on us, Michigan and Florida and common sense be damned.

Obama's original sheen was supposed to reflect a 'new kind' of politician, one who would unite us under an honest sun. Seeing as how that quicky paint job has already worn off, tell us, what in the world is there to recommend Obama as a better candidate than Hillary Clinton? His campaign has been as down as dirty, if not more so, as any in the annals of Democratic primaries. So we can scratch honorable from the list. I've asked this question of Obama supporters before, but never received an answer, so I would appreciate one from you.
