  • Wooohooo, Hillary

Oh, come off it, you sour grapes Obamaites. A win is a win is a win is a win, especially if it's another big-state win where the loser has outspent the champ either 4-1 or 3-1. Hillary ain't quittin', nor should she, and neither are her millions of supporters. Madame President...ah, now that has a nice ring to it, eh?

  • Oh, come off it

Look, there's absolutely no getting around the fact that Obama has won only ONE big state in this game - his home turf, IL. Obama's lead in the popular vote can be boiled down to his advantage in one county and that's Cook and that's synonymous with Chicago. C'mon, give it up - for Hillary supporters, there'll be no tears tonight but instead, a lot of champagne corks popping - yah!

  • Bad faith Cllinton troll???

Ah, KcM, so that's how you define someone who's so happy she could bounce off the chandelier tonight? Dang, no wonder I've had so many arguments with Obamaites along the way. It's been definition of terms all along, duh.

The sour grapes are getting so deep in here, they could use a little stomping lest salon crash before night's end. (Anybody seen Ethel?)

Would it be possible to write a summary of a (hard earned) victory speech delivered by Hillary Clinton without dwelling on Obama?

Has been added to the Clinton coffers since news of Hillary's win in PA tonight, Alex. Oh - and 80 percent of that total came from new donors. Put that in the old keyboard and smoke it, eh?

Along with lj, I did make another donation to Hillary tonight, in between posts. Thanks for the timely reminder, though.

The Obama forces have done everything in their power to tear down Hillary Clinton with the eager complicity of the MSM, so why this continuing trope (hey, I learned a new word) about Hillary being the destructive one in this game? Some of us just aren't buying that one and never will. Clinton has been forced to fight back, pure and simple, and in the process has gained just as many admirers, if not more, than she may have lost, because of her amply demonstrated grit. So why on earth should she coddle Obama while taking on McCain for Obama's benefit, as she continues to be degraded by Obama and his camp? This is beyond any logic other than that of simple masochism, one of the few personal failings Clinton hasn't yet been accused of yet.

Simply put, you can go to hell. I am one of those 'older white women' you would apparently stuff into the nearest stalag simply because their political loyalties don't best please you. Sorry, but your ignorance is appalling. I'm a 60-year old college educated, longtime writer who's hardly ready to crawl into an early political grave merely to accommodate Obama's ego-driven ambition and your rather chilling small mindedness and blatant misogyny. I've been voting since the late Sixties and have never witnessed anything like the current intraparty vitriol - most of it instigated by the Obama camp (which loves to turn around and nail Hillary as the culprit). A word of wisdom: just like our candidate, we older women are well seasoned and battle hardened and will continue adamantly refusing to be marginalized and diminished by the likes of you. So fasten your seatbelt: until you and those of your ilk find a way to value older female, chronic voters, it's going to be a real bumpy ride.

  • Thank you, Rebecca

THIS is the Democratic party many of us have long loved and believed must somehow still exist somewhere - the somewhat raucous and unstylish, warts and all, big tent party described in your wonderful recounting of Hill's big night in Philly. How refreshing to read something so, so, well, old fashioned and good spirited.

BTW, this just in: According to Terry McAuliffe, speaking on MSNBC, Hillary's campaign has raised not only $10 million since last night's win, but also 50,000 new donors!

Excuse me, but just HOW has Obama tried to 'elevate the conversation'? Did I miss something while concentrating on the many, many occasions when he has ridiculed and/or been condescending toward Hillary Clinton, written off Bill Clinton's presidency, portrayed the Clintons as race mongers, dismissed 'typical white people', his grandmother, and too many others to list? Or lied about/covered up many, many aspects of his not terribly admirable career?

As for Keith Olbermann: he's basically a horribly biased pit bull wearing a tie in hopes of passing for a journalist. He has no business appearing on any program without being clearly labeled as an Obama supporter (or Hillary hater).

There really are millions and millions of voters out here who admire, respect, and either have voted for or will vote for Hillary Clinton, for what they consider all the right reasons. Some of these voters post on sites such as salon. They are not Republican operatives playing at black ops, but rather political activists acting in good faith. These same voters have been greatly turned off by the massive vituperation, scorn, and condescension issuing from far too many Obama supporters. The latter has been directed at both Hillary Clinton and her supporters and is daily decreasing the likelihood that Clintonites will vote for Obama should he win the nomination. This is a dynamic which should be simple to grasp.

Last point: any essay/editorial/news report which dares to point out Obama problems and/or shortcomings is protected by freedom of speech, may well have great validity, and be valuable as an aid to further thought and discussion - a bedrock principle of democracy and a concept some of you have serious difficulty understanding. The latter, above all, makes you rather scary, more on the order of fanatics than reasoned citizens with which one would gladly share a country and a future.
