Thanks for pointing out what I started to conclude a couple of days ago. Obama always works several steps a head of the pack and can easily give up what appears to be tactical losses for larger strategic victories. While everyone is up in arms about bonuses, there is a chance now for Congress to step in an score some points and bring up its poll ratings and work for a larger purpose. I believe this is all headed towards sweeping regulation in the financial industry that no one will be able to argue against and the public will be demanding. Wall Street continues to make such poor short-sighted choices that we actually have them to thank for the position they now find themselves in. It is unfortunate people have lost but it's only money.
I thought Obama's press conference was outstanding. I am a teacher and I know how much effort it takes to hold complex thoughts in your mind and to navigate a series of issues. It's not easy. I believe we can all learn simply by watching, reading and researching. It's a great opportunity to have an educator at the highest levels of government.
I've listened to Ron Paul's views before and I'm simply not impressed. Many of his ideas have no place in the practical world.
One of the biggest problems I see with all of the commentary from all sides is that everyone is trying to make a judgement of the Obama Administration's actions based on single snapshots and simply can't wait to look at a series of actions within a larger framework. It's really bizarre. What happened to critical analysis in this country. Oh, yes, we don't teach that anymore. Why can't people simply stop and realize they're working through many items and just because something hasn't happened doesn't mean that it won't. It's just a matter of time for those Wall Street CEO's. Rick Wagoner from GM should have been removed by GM awhile back.
I have an idea: all the critics of the administration's economic plans should come together and perform civic duties and work for the government.
It would have been great if the author had given examples of Obama's "surprising ineptitude". That would require real thinking however.
Nothing has been won by Cheney. It's so early in this affair. Dick Cheney has forgotten one of the most important aspects of any ongoing legal case: Keep your mouth shut. Oh well, criminals often give themselves away. Dick Cheney and his crew of thugs will probably all end up in prison. I actually feel sorry for the man, this is no way to spend one's golden years. They always think they're smarter than everybody. History is full of these kinds of low end scoundrels. This is not going to end well for him.
The Jackson 5 and Michael Jackson's music provided the musical landscape to my childhood. I learned to sing, dance, roller skate to their music. I appreciate MJ's artistic abilities and his musical masterpieces.
For those who seem to only have negative things to say, why don't you simply remain silent. Apparently, you're in the minority. One day you'll be remembered as you lay in your coffin too. I wonder what people will say about you.
I'm starting to think a Democratic operative is behind some of these things. It makes the Republican party look so bad, you really have to wonder.
It feels like bait to me. Someone puts this out there and they know they'll jump all over it without really looking. How foolish. Great thing is, they'll keep doing it! Got to love the political operatives, it makes for great theatre.
Obama must fall asleep laughing...
I think people should do their own research into issues before jumping to conclusions. Most women pay for their own abortions and low income women have access to abortions through clinics. Some 19% use private insurance. Nothing has been signed into law yet.
