Alrighty Then...
[Read the article: More cruelty from right-wing crackpots]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]While trained soldiers have been known to freeze, not to mention come back shell-shocked from seeing people, including buddies blown to pieces, 18 & 19 year old kids are supposed to be Rambo, after watching someone get shot in the head? If that's the way Malkin, Derbyshire, and the others would handle it, why the hell aren't they in Delta Force?
We all like to think we'd be brave, but you never know until you're there.

Signing Statement
[Read the article: Interview with Charlie Savage]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]There's something I've been curious about. President Bush has an opposition party in control of congress, as he did from mid-2001 to January 2003. Even though the rest of the time, congress was a virtual rubber stamp to his policies, there were times they went against him.
My point is, Bush is well known for flouting the will of the people, and has had a very contentious relationship with congress at times, yet he has only issued two vetoes. Why? Is it possible that the administration has fully intended him to exercise his veto power (a power clearly delineated in the constitution) as sparingly as possible, in order to issue these signing statements, establishing precedents for the unitary executive theory?

The Part They Want Us to Forget
[Read the article: The risks of staying]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Something missing from the debate that I think should be shouted from the rooftops every time someone brings up attacking Iran:
After 9/11, Iran was one of the very first countries to send condolences and offer assistance. Their help was invaluable in the fight against the Taliban (remember? the people who DID attack us?). In addition, as has been recently reported, they came to us and offered to give up their atomic program, as well as their support for terrorist groups, and to help us stabilize Iraq, in exchange for normalization of relations. Bush ignored the overture and called them part of the 'axis of evil'. I'm not saying we would have become the best of friends, but wouldn't the wise thing have been to at least test the waters?
On a related note, what sane person could possibly think our armed forces are ready for yet a third war? If we feel isolated now, what's going to happen when we invade yet another country?

Upgrades
[Read the article: The problems with iTunes Plus]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]In addition to the problems named in this article, when Apple offers a menu of previously purchased tunes for upgrade, you have to buy them all. This can get a little expensive, and frankly, even if the sound is better, not everything I've bought is something I want to upgrade.
Also, the previous poster's right about the Tull.

[Read the article: How the Democrats blew it]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]My congressman's the one who decided to leave Iran up to Bush. Any ideas for finding a Ned Lamont?

[Read more letters about this article: Here]... Let's not just dismiss this whole Pamela Lee idea out of hand.

OK...
[Read the article: Brian Williams nominates Peggy Noonan for a Pulitzer Prize]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]... the thing confusing hell out of me is the comment trail to Williams' piece. The first ten or so praise him, praise Noonan, then proceed to bash Bush, the GOP, and the general state of things. One mentions she can't wait for Williams' upcoming segment on the 'depilated' (sic) infrastructure. She then wonders why the government didn't start a new WPA, rather than send rebate checks. Another person mentions that the only time the Correspondent's Dinner was worth watching was when Colbert was on.
While I'm no fan of Brian Williams, and think Peggy Noonan is freaking insane, surely this speaks to the larger picture?
