  • Self-Loathing Comedies

Andrew O'Hehir is a self-loathing American who gets off on bashing the culture whence he comes? Apparently Zenbooty thinks that either because O'Hehir points out, correctly, that from what we hear and see of European film we in the U.S. can easily get a misimpression about their taste, or because he remarks that "a rabbit-on-speed pace" for comedies was long ago abandoned by Hollywood.

That or-statement is also correct, Zenbooty. Watch the Marx brothers films, or "Bringing Up Baby", or "My Girl Friday", or lots of other 1930s comedies, and if it isn't obvious to you that almost every Hollywood comedy that came after has a slower pace, then I suggest you have medical tests of your temporal sense.

Maybe you didn't like the politics implied by the review of "a/k/a Tommy Chong", and somehow that feeling got crossed with the review of "Only Human"....
