These are often hormone mimetics (primarily of estrogen) that can play havoc with your physiology and are suspected of screwing up wildlife biology as well. There is more to plastic bottles than the petroleum and energy used to make them.

[Read more letters about this article: Here]Ahmadenijad (or whatever his name is) NEVER threatened Israel with destruction. His actual remarks were twisted to mean what the nutbags in charge of Israel - and the nutsacks that are the religious right "We want the End Times NOW" - wanted his words to mean. His original comment on Israel was actually rather factual: Israel is doomed (though NOT due to Iran seeking to destroy Israel "and destroy civilization" blah blah). Israel is doomed because of simple population dynamics. The birthrate of Palestinians is much higher than the birthrate of Israeli Jews. Demographically, Israel IS doomed to be, for a time, a Jewish minority state before right and justice wins out and it becomes a state that actually represents its population fairly.
Israel is doomed because they are inevitably to become a minority-ruled government and those simply don't last. They are unjust, they are unstable, they are wrong. The sooner Israel actually becomes a PLURALISTIC free nation the better.
The "threat" from Ahmadenijad (or whatever) was a threat the way Krushchev's shoe-pounding "We will bury you!" speech was a "threat" to the West. Krushchev was NOT threatening the West with military invasion and destruction, he was declaring that the Soviet system would prove inevitably to be superior and would, therefore, bury the West in the dustbin of history only because (he believed) their system was so superior to the West's. If that were true, the OF COURSE the Soviet Union would "bury" the West. The superior system/culture always wins out of the "inferior" one. No military invasions or nuk-u-ler weapons necessary.
Damned Likud nutbags. Damned Fundi Jesus crazies. Iran is NOT a real threat to Israel (unless Israel FORCES them to be by their own illegal militaristic actions) OR to the USA.

[Read more letters about this article: Here]I did NOT say that "they" (all those in the ME angry about Israel) are merely saying that Israel is doomed because of demographic FACTS. That was MY position. I was also stating the fact that the context AND the words of Ahmadenejad concerning the "destruction" of Israel was precisely the same in meaning as Krushchev's "we will bury you" rhetoric. He was NOT threatening military invasion, blah blah. He WAS stating that Israel will be wiped out, essentially, by facts on the ground.
Yes, there are plenty of Islamic wackjobs that want to militarily destroy Israel - which is, of course, wack AND ludicrous since that cannot be done without killing bucketloads of Arabs and Palestinians to boot. What is the point of literally destroying Israel (or nuking it in particular) if the end result is to poison huge swaths of territory that happens to be holy land for Muslims as well as Jews and Xtians? Ridiculous and self-defeating.
Destroying NON-nuk-u-larly is nearly as ridiculous because it also ensures the killing of thousands and thousands of Arabs and Palestinians, AND holy sites, that one is purporting to seek to "liberate".
All that is an aside. There are a couple facts here. The "threat" from Ahmadenejad is not the threat the Likudnicks and Christianists want it to be. It is not, and was not, an actual threat of actively destroying Israel anymore than Krushchev's shoe pounding speech was. It was just misinterpreted that way because it served corrupt leaders-that-be preferences. The Western governments (particularly the US government) used Krushchev's shoe speech as a means of forever planting the military-industrial complex deep into the political anus of US government. The wack Likudnicks of Israel used Ahmadenejad's speech as a tool to gin up support and feed their lust for murder and war against Palestinians and Iran, as a tool to try to push the US to do their dirty work for them (bomb bomb bomb, bomb bomb Iran!). The nutback Xtianists used it as a means to try and force the US government OR encourage Israel, to do the dirty unprovoked war deed against Iran in a desperate attempt to bring Jaysus back and get the whole Rapture nonsense going already!
And don't talk at me about hidden Imams. I'm atheist, I couldn't give a crap about Jesus, Imams, Jehovah, Allah, Vishnu, Mithras, Zenu, or any other bullshit myth. I'm white European, I'm a decorated US veteran, and I'm opposed to totally unprovoked, unjustifiable, criminal wars of aggression that do nothing but further corporate interests, erode civil liberties, and destroy the financial future of our country (the USA, that is). I am sick and tired of the nonsensical attempts by the corporatists in US government ginning up war after war, threat after threat JUST to fatten corporate coffers...and our totally noncritical support for Israel NO MATTER WHAT feeds that same bullshit purpose.
Ahmadenejad was NOT directly or militarily threatening Israel. Israel IS looking at demographic "destruction". Two facts. Suck it up.
