  • I have long contended that this would happen

It has long been apparent to me that the Democrats would do absolutely nothing about anything Bush/Cheney have done. They ALWAYS talk big but when it comes to actually DOING anything, they never ever follow through. The reason is simple: their intention all along has been to simply run out the clock. It is as if they are bothered by pressures to actually do their Constitutional and moral duty. It is too much trouble (and likely would automatically self-incriminate themselves on ANY investigation taken to full fruition). Thus, for the sake of appearance and to simply throw a pathetic bone to the base now and again, they talk about investigations, they talk about subpoenas, but they never ever DO.

There is not a single investigation that they've initiated that has actually gone anywhere. ALL the so-called investigations they have started (or promised to start) are languishing in never-never land. Bush/Cheney could, literally, order the execution of war protesters in DC and all that would come of it would be expressions of "outrage" by the Democrats. The most that ever comes of a Democrat 'investigation' is a stern letter (merely so they can show it to people when asked about what the hell they're doing about x). They can then simply say, "See? We ARE doing something! We have complained to Bush/Cheney about their not cooperating!"

It is truly clear that it does NOT matter who controls Congress. It truly is irrelevant because crimes will be committed with total impunity by branches of the government against the people and against the Constitution regardless. All WE will get to salve our lost liberty and lost country is yet another "stern letter" fired off to the trashcan in the White House.

  • Of course not

And what are the Dem base gonna' do?

    Vote Republican?

Of course we aren't going to vote Rethuglican. Many (like myself) will leave the party and declare as independents and then vote in pick-and-choose fashion for the best non-Rethuglican candidates that may also happen to be NOT-Democrat. In fact, come November 2008, I anticipate voting a LOT for 3rd party candidates and against both the Dem and the Rethug on the ticket. While this wont help with the Presidency (unless Bloomberg drops in as an independent...then I may purposefully queer the Dems and vote for him) but it can help the Congress. It would be a much better congress if there were a good number of independents, greens, etc, in it. Both parties would then have to vie for these unaffiliated reps, giving in on issues or making promises on issues in order to convince the 3rd party member to caucus with them. No more railroading the corporate line across the board.

I want MORE independents and other 3rd party members in Congress. We could force a more representational democracy on both Houses regardless of what the party bosses want. We could force them, via outsiders, to actually DO WHAT WE TELL THEM TO DO!

I despise the Democrat party only slightly less than I loathe the GOP. They have done NOTHING to earn my vote but have driven me from the party.

They are criminals, top to bottom, and I will NOT reward them with my votes (or money).

  • Here you go then

Don't forget, Ralph Nader cost Al Gore the Y2K election.

You have absolutely no idea how sick I am of hearing that.

If Bloomberg enters (and Hillary is the Dem candidate) I will vote for Bloomberg. I also see that Nader is considering jumping in again. If Bloomberg doesn't enter but Nader does (and Hillary is the Dem candidate) then I will vote for Nader.

I WILL do my part to queer the Democrap's plans to increase/hold onto their majority. They are useless and criminal and I don't want EITHER the Dems or the Rethugs in charge. The Dems simply give us Reid and Pelosi, the biggest criminal do-nothings in Congressional history. We get Rahm Emmanuel stabbing REAL Democrats in the back in order to support Lieberman. We get more war, more war funding, more illegal spying, more theft from the middle and lower classes to directly line the pockets of the rich. We get NOTHING.

I am now a member of the "throw ALL the bums out" party.

  • I LIKE that idea

I think the only way to change this is for ordinary citizens to simply do things like show up for jury duty and refuse to cooperate by simply saying they don't believe in the law anymore until elected officials start believing in it...

In fact, I like it so much that the next time I am called to do jury duty (which is the instant I become eligible again in my county because it seems that there are only 12 or 13 of us) I will disqualify myself with just such a protest. If the government doesn't have to obey the law or gets to pick and choose who will actually be punished for transgressions of THEIR laws (which is pretty much NEVER one of their own), then I can pick to ignore their laws and the duties that supposedly ensue from them.
