    "problems with his legislative history"

    What problems?

    Sheesh.

H.R.1095: To prohibit any Federal official from expending any Federal funds for any population control or population planning program or any family planning activity.

H.R.777: To prohibit any Federal official from expending any Federal funds for any population control or population planning program or any family planning activity.

H.R.1548: To prohibit any Federal official from expending any Federal funds for any population control or population planning program or any family planning activity.

H.AMDT.1003 (A024): Amendment no. 17 printed in the Congressional Record to prohibit the use of funding for abortion, family planning, or population control efforts.

H.AMDT.380 (A022): An amendment no. 9 printed in the Congressional Record to prohibit funding for population control or population planning programs; family planning activities; or abortion procedures.

H.AMDT.312 (A011): An amendment to prohibit the use of funds appropriated in the bill for Family Planning, birth control or abortion.

H.R.4984: Prohibit the use of funds for the Peace Corps to be used for travel expenses of individuals in order for abortions to be performed on those individuals.

H.R.2597: To provide that human life shall be deemed to exist from conception.

H.R.1094: To provide that human life shall be deemed to exist from conception.

H.R.776: To provide that human life shall be deemed to exist from conception

H.R.392: A bill proposing an amendment to the Constitution of the United States guaranteeing the right to life.

Not just bills to make women slaves, but to also attempt to eliminate the right to birthcontrol. Not only must women NOT control their bodies once pregnant, they must not be allowed the means to prevent pregnancy in the first place.

    Then there's:

H.R.2310: A bill to repeal the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970.

H.R.13264: A bill to repeal the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970

Absolutely, requiring workplace safety is an abomination. The Constitution enshrines the rights of corporations to kill, injure, maim, or poison workers.

Bills to prevent the elimination of the electoral college, one of the most undemocratic acts by the Founders. Why does Paul fear the people?

Repeal all anti-trust laws? Oh yes, as we all know, corporations are our friends and in no way, shape, or form ever wish to cause harm. They CAN'T cause harm because of...magic!

We lived through libertarian non-regulation hell in this country once before. It was the era of Robber Barons in the 19th century. Charles Dickens made his mark by writing exclusively about the excesses and evils of that corporation-run-amok time. Happily, we will NEVER go back to that regardless of Paul's errant fantasies.

H.R.5842: A bill to make all Iranian Students in the United States ineligible for any form of federal aid.

THAT is well thought out...and not racist or xenophobic or simply moronic on its face.

Seeking to amend to Constitution to bar citizenship to children born in the US unless their parents are pre-approved (white) and already here? That particular aspect of the Constitution was written for a reason. The Founders didn't get it wrong...they got it right. For Paul to think that he can do better than the Founders is ridiculous.

    H.J.RES.42:

Proposing an amendment to the Constitution of the United States to deny United States citizenship to individuals born in the United States to parents who are neither United States citizens nor persons who owe permanent allegiance to the United States.

I'm a native of the United States and a veteran (are YOU anonymous?) and I do not owe "permanent allegiance to the United States". Got a problem with that? The most idiotic conceit ever voiced by any human being is "my country right or wrong". Sorry, my country only when right. I don't go for wrong. I don't fight for wrong. I don't accept, nor swear fealty to wrong. My oath was to protect and defend the Constitution, NOT the USA, NOT the borders. Think you want to take MY citizenship away from me?

Then there is bill after bill trying to free up those perfect and false gods of his (and other libertarians), the corporations, to pollute rivers, streams, and the ocean to their heart's content. Defend that...it is impossible.

Bills to block conservation measures? How very libertarian. Take take take and screw everyone else and in particular, screw future generations. No need to leave our children or children's children anything but poisoned land, poisoned water, poisoned air, and a denuded landscape because making a fast buck now is more important that anything else.

H.CON.RES.231: Expressing the sense of the Congress that the Panama Canal and the Panama Canal Zone should be considered to be the sovereign territory of the United States.

No. The canal is NOT ours (any more than any oil in the Middle East belongs to us). Panama belongs to the Panamanians. What OTHER countries does Paul wish to simply lay claim to so imperially?

Bills to ensure that the wealthiest NEVER pay their fair share of taxes. Soak the poor or let 'em die in ditches since they can't afford to die anywhere else.

There is nothing BUT PROBLEMS with Paul's legislative history.

He is a wackjob. Plain and simple. And as for Iraq, even a broken clock...

  • @Oh wait. Wasn't this Paul Thing beat to death days ago?

Yes. Yes it was. Glenn keeps digging it up. I believe the desire is to get a lot of letters. Perhaps there is some "letter count" metric that the management at Salon use as a proxy for "we're doin' good".

If this were 2000, and Glenn were here, no doubt there would be a SLEW of Nader posts by Glenn to bring the Naderites out of the crawlspace and ratchet up the letter count.
