@Pedinska re: netting lingerie

If you ever get that worked out, let me know. You'll make a fortune. Hell I'd wear some, if I thought it would keep me protected...

Just as an actual comment on Glenn's post, what are the odds that someone else is really going to run with this? I'm guessing even the embers of any comments will be gone by mid-afternoon Sunday.

You have to wonder

About a group of people who think that making obvious lies is the best strategy. You also have to wonder about a country where they may be right.

I'm so glad this is coming out

I've wanted to see this ever since I've heard about it. I have no idea what goes through some people's minds, or what makes intelligent, beautiful black women do the things they do to straighten their hair. I hope there are some answers among the jokes.

I've always thought there was something deeply interesting to explore there. I'm glad Chris did.

What made you decide to switch back, Pam?

That ad you linked to

Wow, was that offensive. At least, to me. I'd forgotten about ads like that, I used to see them all the time when I was a kid.

@Dave - I read the same story in "The Autobiography of Malcolm X."

Tuesday, August 11, 2009 05:09 PM

Easier? Really?

I'm not saying I doubt you, but I just don't know a single black woman who says straightened hair is easy, or cheap, to deal with. You guys must be lucky.

Original article: Oops, he did it again

Why?

Why would I ever care about, or want to hear about, Rush's homosexual fixations? Or any other kind, actually.

It's worse than that

The administration, or the sections that count, are the same as the banks. They ARE the banks, in every way that counts. So, not only will the pay for executives at these companies be obscenely high, but they will continue to openly steal your money.

People need to call it what it is. Theft. Your money.

Welcome back

Hi Glenn. Good point, but I can only figure that you miss abusive e-mails, and want to get back into the swing of things with this topic, lol. You're obviously correct, but then, since the spokespeople for the right seem to care mostly for their pockets, I doubt any of them, or their followers, are going to see anything contradictory in their behaviour.

Original article: Run, Orly, run!

It could happen

All she needs is to find a place where there are enough registered bat$h!t crazy people. From all the news I'm reading, that's more areas than I'm comfortable with.

Since there are all these lawsuits going around...

"(they like their "whores" clean, attractive and pure)"

- couldn't that line get you in trouble?

Monday, August 24, 2009 12:29 PM

Or, in other words

They're punting the ball.

Monday, August 24, 2009 02:56 PM

I think you already said it best Glenn

"To target low-level interrogators while shielding high-level policy makers would further bolster America's two-tiered system of justice, in which ordinary Americans are subjected to merciless punishment while the most powerful elites are vested with virtual immunity from the consequences of their lawbreaking. . . ."

A country can't really be considered to have a functioning system of justice where this happens. I'm sure Chuck Todd and other "serious" people won't care much about this, but everybody else should be up in arms.

Monday, August 24, 2009 03:02 PM

@Jacksonian

What you said.

@Titowan

I'm pretty sure they don't care what the rest of the world thinks either.

Nice T-shirt, by the way.

I agree with this completely

I really would have liked to see Inskeep's reaction if the Iranian President said -- when asked about all of this -- that they were looking forward, not backwards; didn't want to criminalize policy disputes over how to handle the internal insurrection; and didn't want to spawn a cycle of retribution by launching investigations against well-meaning prison guards trying to keep the country safe.

Not only would I like to see Inskeep's reaction, i'd love to see Obama's...because if I were Ahmadinejad, that's exactly how I would have answered that question.

Nice Post Glenn. I think I'll watch the show tonight.

Ok, this comment is silly

But I'm amazed that anyone would name your organization the Society of Americans for National Existence. I mean when you tell people you're a member of this group, you're literally telling them that you're in SANE.

There's something about that I like.

On a more serious note

It's a conversation that hardly anybody really wants to have, and no doubt it would be incredibly uncomfortable and traumatic. The fact is though, solving all the other serious issues facing the US is just gonna be way more difficult until Americans make serious headway on dealing with racial issues.

How could a congresswoman be treated like a reasonable human being after writing the foreword to a book like that? And as Glenn has so accurately pointed out, this whole issue is nothing but an attempt to get people scared and hating the other. After all, if they were thinking, they might ask questions like "where's my money going?" Can't have that.

Thursday, October 15, 2009 10:17 AM

@cjackb

I think it's only legal for government organizations to spy on Congress. Everybody else is just out of luck.

Thursday, October 15, 2009 04:37 PM

You know what I find interesting?

That Rush was busy putting down Sharpton, Jackson, and DeMaurice Smith (the head of the NFLPA), as far as naming names is concerned, but Dave Checketts is the guy heading up the group who dropped him. And the NFL owners are the ones who were hinting that they wouldn't support the bid if Rush was involved. Really, the decision to have Rush involved is up to those guys - they're the ones who forced him out. He didn't name them though.

He was all over Sharpton, Jackson and Smith though. I wonder why that is?

Thursday, October 15, 2009 05:14 PM

@Cuchulain2007

The astounding thing to me is that so many people want to defend that, or say he isn't racist. Why doesn't he, and they, just embrace their racism? It's who they are, just admit. I bet they'd feel better.

Thursday, October 15, 2009 05:23 PM

The power of Jesse

Yeah, there's no doubt that a guy like Jim Irsay, or Dave Checketts really takes to heart what Jesse Jackson has to say. Jackson is incredibly powerful, for sure.

I'm sure once they heard Jesse disapproved, they just went "Damn! What was I thinking? Of course Jesse's right. I should have asked him in the first place, like I do my other business decisions."

The cognitive ability of some people is, well, not disappointing, but depressing.
