Never a rational moment

The problem is that the extreme right and the pure racist element have teamed up to create a lot of news for 20 million losers.

These are the same people that scream about socialism while complaining that the government doesn't give them jobs, missing the irony of this position completely.

The problem is that you have to be able to understand coRush and Fox driven chorus of clowns running the country with their pitchforks and radio hosts.

Creating jobs by cutting taxes

It must be very nice to be a Republican, you learn 3 things and keep saying them over and over, cut taxes, no new taxes and buy lots of guns.

I agree that taxes need to be the right level, but to spend all of your time saying the obvious with no answers as to what is the right amount is pointless.

Jobs needs to be created in times of structural breaks through a concerted public/private partnership.

I started my career as NASA and the innovations that came from that rather obscure pursuit of going to the moon was derided at the time by conservatives.

They were wrong then and they are wrong now, this is exactly the time we need regulation to prevent fraud and Madoff's from stealing our money again.

We can do this people, get to work.

Hard decisions for math challenged people

This issue has its own special set of considerations but in many ways it is a great example of the things that have to be considered to reduce healthcare and the difficulty in explaining these society wide advantages in the face of the extremists that attack Obama relentlessly as they fear any sign of Government working.

I read the study and came away with the understanding that false positives in 40-49 YO's are so frequent that it has resulted in two problems; the first is the impression that the risk is much higher since every false positive puts a load on the system and makes it seem like their are more cases of cancer than their really are.

The second is worse, it shows that the demand (remember we have a "free market health care system" for these mammograms has raised prices and profits making it harder for 50-59 YO woman that are at higher risks to get screened.

So you see rationing is already happening and as always it is causing more poor people to die so that more rich 40-49 YO's can live.

It that the correct moral choice for a society?

Kids learn about sex where they always have, in the streets

The idea that parents need to talk to kids about sex is not new nor a bad idea, and if the goal is to keep them from getting pregnant before they finish high school then the conversation needs to be around what is lost by the pregnancy.

The negatives need to be emphasized because they will be more likely remembered in moments of passion than what can be gained, if the program is effective in instilling an understanding of the fears of loss opportunities, freedom, less money, etc.

Teaching condoms makes sense as it provides a way for kids that are going to have sex regardless and has been proven to reduce some unwanted pregnancies.

A large issue that doesn't get mentioned is the effects of alcohol on sexual behavior, you don't have to look very hard to find evidence of young women doing bad things that they might not do if they didn't have a few drinks prior to the wet t-shirt contests.

If you are saying that government is bad then you'll be bad at governing

Ever since Ron Reagan came to washington saying he hated government, although he had spent his life trying and getting ahead in government the Republican party has been in the strange position of governing while telling us that government is bad.

Now smart people know that government in and of itself has no good or bad qualities, those are provided by the people that are elected to do the job of government, which has been recognized since ancient times as an essential, maybe the essential component of humanity by everyone except Republicans.

Obama is a guy that was elected because the other guys were saying that government is bad, even McCain who has lived and worked in DC most of his life found himself in the indefensible position of saying I hate government and I would like to run the government.

I'm glad to see the right getting excited, this minor election cycle should get them pumped up also, but Obama is doing the job because he believes in government and is doing a better job.

Americans are sicker and fatter

You can write all you want, 1 page to 2000 pages but the problem based on the facts is two fold, first we subsidized tobacco for years which has made entire generations have higher levels of cancer and circulatory problems, secondly we subsidize corn farmers which produce fructose and has made 66% of the people fat which leads to joint replacements, CT scans to look for back problems through layers of fat and even stapling stomachs.

We pay to have fat people fixed but won't pay to have a raped woman get an abortion, this view healthcare is going to make us an entire nation of Biggest Losers.

I have never smoked tobacco, don't drink alcohol and have a BMI of 22.5, and I get a meager 20% discount due to the legal restrictions according to my health insurance provider, so I pay more so you can eat and drink yourself into the hospital so someone can staple your stomach because you can't close your mouth.
