right on claire

If you don't like the crap Hollywood is always putting out, don't go. Or better yet, if you're complaining about the quality and content of today's mainstream summer blockbusters (at this stage, that's like being the 100 millionth person to bash the quality of the "music" on MTV), try writing your own screenplay (the pro-active solution), and see if you can get it produced and force fed to the masses at $10/pop. There have been plenty of crap movies made by women for women that have done well... like "Big Fat Greek Wedding." Any idiot can do it. The formula is pretty simple.

The Iranian Campaign: corporate welfare for bomb builders...

The way I see it, if we do attack Iran, I'd be very surprised if any ground units were contributed. It'll likely just be a bombing campaign on behalf of Lockheed, General Dynamics, Boeing, etc.

The Iraqi occupation has made billions for Halliburton, Blackwater, et. al., but there wasn't much of an air campaign, and not much aerial bombing after the major combat portion of the conflict "ended." This Administration would hate to leave a significant portion of the military industrial complex unhappy with their tenure in the WhiteHouse. (Hate for these Great Corporate Patriots to be *forced* to sell their wares abroad to nations hostile to the U.S.) Therefore, we'll have one last orgy of death and destruction aimed at those who would so much as verbally threaten our American (or more accurately Israeli?) way of life.

USA! USA! USA!

PS- the "disruption" to oil stocks caused by bombing a major supplier of the world's oil will provide a great boost to oil prices and all linked to it. So the bigwigs in Irving, Texas won't have much to complain about either...

$5/gallon anyone?

@Reality Kid

Oh, I agree completely. No question that in Iraq they've gotten pretty good at covering up all those "surgical strikes" that go awry and result in "collateral damage."

I suppose I should admit I haven't done any actual research here, and don't have figures to back up my claim regarding expenses doled out to various defense contractors in Iraq II.

I just don't see Iran as anything other than a bombing campaign. The point I was making was in questioning the motives for it.

Iran Bombing campaign = lots of big ticket defense appropriations. (that'll teach 'em to say mean things about Israel)

Original article: The unbeatable Celtics

How long before people realize...

KG is not indefensible. He's good statistically, but he's not great.

The guy has never won a title. He's been in the league for years. After a certain point, there are no more excuses; it's not the coach, it's not his surrounding cast, he's just not a guy who will win you a championship. Nothing more needs to be said.

really don't understand how Harry Reid is a Democrat, or a liberal, or whatever he claims to be. I think somebody has dirt on him, or somebody paid him off somehow. Seriously. There is no other explanation for his positions.

When Glenn blogged about Reid during the earlier PAA fight, I posted a link to a story in the Atlantic Monthly (I think or maybe the New Yorker) about Reid. When Reid was first voted in as the Sen. Majority leader, the RNC immediately started making noise about some of the dirty dealings of Reid's family in Nevada and elsewhere.

Bush then invited Reid to dinner at the WH. There was a friendly handshake, and lo and behold, all those allegations about Reid's family's connections were removed from the RNC homepage.

Check mate?

Dude has been "as impotent as a Nevada Boxing commissioner" to quote Mr. Burns, since then. What's surprising is that he just took this lying down... a guy who is supposedly a tough former boxer, loved confrontations, and who took on the mob when he was in Vegas, turned out to be real pussycat when he was up against Rove et. al.
