the Bush dabacle and Tenet now blows the whistle
[Read the article: A genuine political sea change?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]As early as the day after 9/11 I realized that the Bush administration was going to take advantage of the catastrophy and use it as an excuse to invade Iraq. My only surprise was that it took them so long to do so. This single agenda item was probably on the current occupant's mind even when he was Governor of Texas. It certainly was on Cheney's mind and part of his plan. It has been from day one an unmitigated disaster that just keeps on giving.
The deception and lies that Bush and his cronies used to get us into this disaster and to ruin our reputation throughout the world as far as I'm concerned reaches the level of high crimes and misdemeanors....or felonies and treason if you will.
Tenet and Condi are equally responsible for our entry into this disaster. How dare he now write a book about it, coming out and blaming Cheney and how dare Condi refuse to testify before congress on the lies leading up to the war. These people worked and work for us. They might answer to G W but in a larger and greater sense they answer to us as well.
If I knew it was a scam...why didn't all the johnny come lately democratic reps and senators also know it? Throw all the bums out....bring our soldiers home....let's save some lives for a change. john higgins

Feingold More Of The Real World Than The Author
[Read the article: Russ Feingold is not from the real world]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Actually, calling for a censure of Bush makes a lot of sense. It will give the country information about which Senators support Bush and which don't....and their reasons. It will also set the stage for a possible impeachment trial once the House figures out what to do. If the House exercised its power of "Inherent Contempt", they could give Scooter and all the rest immunity and call them all to testify. If they didn't, the sargeant at arms would simply lock them up in the basement of congress until they decided to spill the beans. As long as Bush has directed the US atty's office to not prosecute any contempt of congress charges that might be brought, the House and Senate have no choice but to use their Inherent Contempt powers. As those called to testify begin to sing, the censure and impeachment will make a lot more sense....as all the evidence will be evident. Let's lock up these lunatics once and for all. John Higgins

First of All....Obama was right Clinton was wrong
[Read the article: What Beltway media stars mean by "centrism" and "extremism"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]First of All....Obama was right Clinton was wrong. We should be talking to all those who are perceived as enemies of our government or way of life. We might even learn something about why our life style or bullying international business preogatives rub people the wrong way. And then we could change our behavior. To ignore and criticize those detractors of the American Way of Life does nothing positive for either side. But it certainly cements and increases the hatred, disaffection, suspicion, and combative energy on both sides.
Poor Hillary was merely playing to the same Cubans who have supposedly helped Bush win two terms in the White House. In real numbers that swing elections, they don't exist anymore. Castro over the course of 50 years has soundly won the standoff. For more on this go to www.triciclista.squarespace.com
Chavez, if you listen to what he's saying and look at the support he has in his own country, you'd see a level of success that G dubya and Tricky Dick Cheney had dreamed of but didn't have the smarts or personality to realize.
It's time to diminish the level of confrontation that Bush still thinks he thrives on....it's done nothing for him, less for our country, and if Hillary wants to use the grown up, "This is the way diplomacy is done" card against Obama, her political history will end sometime during the primaries of next February. She unfortunately is pandering, Mr. Obama is speaking the truth and suggesting sanity not strategy.
Sanity rather than strategy is the only thing that will save the world after 8 disastrous years of the lunacy known as Bush and Co. John H. Higgins

Innocent Civilian Deaths Unacceptable Whether Above 30 or Below
[Read the article: When is an accidental civilian death not an accident?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Just like Bush thinks History will judge him more favorably twenty years from now, so too will collateral deaths from our misguided wars and occupations come home to roost ten, twenty, thirty, fourty, and fifty years from now. For each innocent victim of our wars both against and of terrorism, count 20 jihadists born for every one.
There is no doubt that these new trainees will be let loose on our interests and people overseas and as well here in the Homeland. It is not a matter of years but more like months, weeks, or days before we see suicide bombers blowing themselves up at sporting events and music concerts......to say nothing of attacks on the thousands of waiting travelers going through security checks at our many airports.
And Bush says that if we leave Iraq the terrorists will follow us here. Well Georgie boy, heck of a job, they're alreadly here.....and in numbers.
Unfortunately because of the collateral damage we've visited on Iraq and Afghanistan, every death here will be more than deserved. If you want to be safe, live in the country or move to another country. What Bush has sowed, we all will reap.
