Original article: How many homes do you have?

The NY Times?

The paper that prints all of the news that's fit to print and fits perfectly at the bottom of my pet parakeet's bird cage? The paper that employs the pundit worthy pap of Will the Wizard Kristol and his amazing crystal ball? That NY Times?

So?

@jeb

What is Bush-like, is prosecuting an impossible two front war. Bush should have immediately gone after the guilty parties in Afghanistan, but he rose to the task too late, about three months too late.

Obama is right about Afghanistan. It is where Bin Laden's organisation has its deepest origins. To of concentrated on Afghanistan alone and not Iraq is completely correct from any logical standpoint.

Iraq though, will never be pacified by the United States, and the U.S. should have continued its no fly zones and embargos to keep Saddam sealed in and contained. This policy was stringently in effect from the end of the '91 Gulf War, up until Bush's ill fated invasion, and with some difficulties, was very effective.

Saddam could do nothing in Iraq, accept for what he was doing anyway, keeping the Iraqi people under his iron gauntlet. He was pinned down by the U.S.

The Iraqis didn't need the United States to topple the country's already tenuous balance which was held fast by Saddam's unfortunate willingness to use supreme force to enforce it and keep it in place.

Kept in place it was, and there were no violent internal rivalries that were tolerated, and in this sense the country's Shi'a, Sunni, and Kurd communities were safe from injuring or ousting one another.

When the U.S. leaves it will be a Yugoslavia all over again. Three ethno-religious antagonists will vie for supreme power over the power of the state and kill for it.

You understand nothing. You're not even a novice to understanding the situation.

Obama is right, Iraq must be left to its own self-determining devices. It is well past time for the U.S. to begin withdrawing from the Iraq.

The only outstanding threat that ever existed was Bin-Laden and his band of brigands, not Iraq, Saddam, and its bogus bomb.

You are the very essence of American naivete.

Odonnell is the resident crypto-literarian. In other words a complete flake and a farcical phoney. It's her way of fun.

Television promotes brain decay and mind meltdown.

Without being rude, I'm probably the only person here who has never seen Walsh pontificate politics on the tube.

Don't be frightened. Whatever happened to all of the intestinal fortitude? Anyway, once we elect Obama and erect the first American Caliphate in the western hemisphere, well, then might be the time to worry.

Thursday, August 21, 2008 02:05 PM

This is stupid

If a woman visits Shubra she should cover, if she goes to Mohandaseen, just wear a knee length skirt, blouse, no hijab, no kerchief, no problem. But yeah, if you go out in your bathing suit someone MIGHT try to ravish you!

Rural villages are religiously conservative ie. Beni-Suef, the village areas around Giza, and just about anywhere mud brick is more abundant than chrome and glass. El-Maadi, Digla, Garden City, Mohandaseen and other affluently modern parts of Cairo have no problems with Western women's attire.

Masri Gidida? Modern dress no problem.

Why all of the concern? Doesn't America get enough of its own abundant idiocy to so pleasantly pass around?

@Fester

Maybe Obama's letting the people define McCain for themselves. It ain't lookin' so good if his bridge and bond to the common man is bein' a billionaire, and having more houses than he and Cindy know what to do with. If only I had such problems!

I agree

McCain needs to be cast in some kind of image, and then gradually chipped away at. If Obama doesn't get his ass in gear, it's Mac the Knife for many a year.

The Campaign Against McCain

I think we need to form a phalanx of spearmen, have at least 6 seige engines built and ready, seven battering rams, a little Greek fire to warm things up, a volley of burning arrows that will blot out the light of the sun, and of course we need to hack McCain himelf into a million pieces.
