"Shame is effective."

I am of the belief that the concept of shame is in extremely short supply among those who control "Journalism" in this country.

I am not minimizing Glenn's work at all here as I am extremely proud of the work he's done since I met him way back in the day (he taught me what a "Dog Walker" was way back when he still lived at Turty Turd and Turd).

I also do not minimize the damage that has been done to our country by some "Journalists" who share the same professional mannerisms as Deborah Jeane Palfrey. Publishing one or two instances of truth won't correct the damage already done any more than sending additional 30,000 troops to Baghdad will somehow repair the damage done by the preceeding 200,000 troops.

Yo! Shooter242

"So let me get this straight....

You folks are upset that Bush refers to the murdering Muslims in Iraq by the same name as the murdering Muslims in Pakistan?"

Not particularly, Shooter. It's only upsetting when he makes the claim that those folks shooting at our troops in Iraq are the same folks who drove those planes into the WTC and Pentagon in order to dupe the public into believing that his illegal invasion of Iraq was somehow warranted by 9-11.

Wouldn't it upset you if Glenn referred to you as being the same as the moron who calls himself the Major?

"They are all the "same folks".

Hmmmmmmm, that's strange.

Those are precisely my thoughts regarding you and the Major.

In the meantime..

arrest and lock up Harriet Miers.

Until Congress gets the balls to do that, at minimum, there is absolutely no way they can commence an impeachment proceeding.

Shooter Dishonest

"Obviously noone is bothering to make sure everyone understands this is about Habeus for ALIENS, as in NON-CITIZENS. While Casual Observer may have been mislead, Glenn's presentation as well as Geiger's is purposely oblique to imply something other than what it is. Most people consider that dishonest."

-- shooter242

No, Shooter, it is you who is being dishonest. If the president or his designee declares you to be an unlawful combatant, you can be locked up in Gitmo (or whereever) and because of the changes made to our laws last year, you will have no legal access to the courts to prove that you are a citizen (even if you actually are one) with habeas rights. Thus, in practice, habeas rights have been stripped of anyone the President does not wish to have them.

Any person.

Any President.

Think about that while they're waterboarding your sorry ass.

To Honor Bebop-O

The Cold Within

Six humans trapped in happenstance in dark and bitter cold,

Each one possessed a stick of wood, or so the story's told.

Their dying fire in need of logs, one woman held her's back,

For on the faces around the fire, she noticed one was black.

The next one looking across the way saw one not of his church,

And couldn't bring himself to give the fire his stick of birch.

The third one sat in tattered clothes and gave his coat a hitch,

Why should my log be used to aid the idle rich?

The rich man just sat back and thought of the wealth he had in store,

And how to keep what he had earned from the lazy shiftless poor.

The black man's face bespoke revenge as the fire passed from his sight,

For all he saw in his stick of wood was a chance to spite the white.

The last man in this forlorn group did not expect for gain,

Giving only to those who gave was how he played the game.

Six logs held tight in death stilled hands, was proof of human sin -

They didn't die from the cold without,

They died from the cold within.

Come back when you have something valid to offer. Heh.

You really are a dumbshit, aren't you. (That's as valid as it gets.)

If your sorry ass is locked up in Gitmo without access to a lawyer or the courts, how are you going to prove you're a citizen?

Chew on that one.

Shooter is once again dishonest

The Military Commissions Act of 2006 effectively got around the Hamdi decision by setting up a structure where the President (or his designee) can name anyone an unlawful enemy combatant and thus subject to being "disappeared" with no regard to habeas.

I'm still waiting, Shooter, for you to explain to us how you will prove you are a US citizen once they have your sorry ass squirreled away in Gitmo.

Heh, yourownself.

Pace

Pace: Even bigger buildup an option

Monday Jul 16, 2007 9:18:26 EDT

BAGHDAD — The U.S. military’s top general said Monday that the Joint Chiefs of Staff is weighing a range of possible new directions in Iraq, including, if President Bush deems it necessary, an even bigger troop buildup.

How in the world can this be. Just last week, Bush said he would take direction from the military. If the military is waiting for him to set their tactics, and he's waiting for them to tell him what to order, nothing will happen - and we already know that isn't going to be the case.

Thus.....either Pace or Bush is lying.

My money is on Bush.

BTW, Shooter, have you figured out how to prove you're a citizen after they've thrown your stupid ass into Gitmo?
