"Breaking With the Democrats...It will be easy to build momentum for Nader once we get past the initial insults."

"For a third party campaign to be effective, it's not necessary that they actually win the presidency. If Democrats realize that they cannot win elections without drawing on Nader supporters, this will significantly alter the Democratic agenda."

The last time people voted for Nader in any measurable numbers we got Bush.
No thanks.

[Read more letters about this article: Here]"I haven't seen any replies to this by page eight in the comments. Dodd and Feingold stipulate that Presidential letters were given to the Telcos throughout. Why isn't that sufficient evidence of authorization, nullifying the lawsuits?"
Gee, Shooter, do you think perhaps because those letters were not in accordance with the law?
Have you ever read the FISA?

[Read more letters about this article: Here]"So F&D stipulate that authorization gets the telcos off the hook, but only if they determine whether the bureaucratic requirements are met? Immediately after 9/11? If that's the case, no wonder the Dem leadership is doing this. It would be a stunning act of pettiness to allow suit of telcos for billions because Presidential authorization wasn't prepared on the proper form."
Is this the best you can come up with, Shooter?

Obama
[Read the article: Targeting Steny Hoyer for his contempt for the rule of law]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I just got off the phone with a lovely young lady who works for the Obama campaign. After getting through some initial confusion about why I was calling, she asked if I had read Obama's position papers, etc., relative to his position on this issue.
I explained that I was aware of his position on the FISA issue but that I wanted to stress that he needed to exercise his position as the titular (no, Pedinska, I didn't use that word with her) head of the Party, take the reigns and whip the party horse into shape to oppose this so-called compromise.
I went on to say that I was being given a choice. I could either contribute money to the Obama campaign or I could contribute to the fund to go after Stony Hoyer but not both. I told her that I would wait a couple of days to see what he did and then make the decision as to where my money would be best spent.
She thanked me for my call and said she would pass my comments along to the campaign.
I have a sneaking suspicion that if enough people called the campaign about this, sooner or later those in charge will start hearing the buzz.

[Read more letters about this article: Here]"Dodd and Feingold have acknowledged the letters of authorization from the President to the telcos. Your test has been met. What's the problem?"
It's taken quite some time for you to come around, Shooter, but it's apparent that you finally understand.
If you believe that the letters of authorization to the telcos were sufficient to make legal the activities those telcos took subsequently, then they should have no reason to require legal immunity for those activities.
Very good.
You may go to recess now.

[Read more letters about this article: Here]"Jeebus you are a smug, pompous know-it-all. You do enjoy condescending to people. No one else knows what you know do they Timberman?
Whatever, I will go back to ignoring you."
I believe you are correct, adnoto. WT most certainly is a smug, pompous know-it-all. As a matter of fact, when he speaks of those "honest-to-God class wars" that took place years ago, he leaves me wondering what the hell he's talking about.
Would you mind explaining, in detail and in your own words please, what those "honest-to-God class wars" entailed and some of the players who engaged in those "wars"?
I shall be forever in your debt if you would extend to me this one small courtesy.

[Read more letters about this article: Here]"2) Why does Glenn claim that Steny has contempt for the rule of law, yet ignores Jefferson?"
Why should Glenn spend his time worrying about Jefferson when the Justice Department seems to be doing a bang-up job of not only exposing his alleged wrongs, but also prosecuting him in accordance with the law?
Glenn piling on "Dollar Bill" Jefferson (D-LA) would be slightly redundant, don't you think?
or maybe that should read.....
Don't you think?
Whichever you prefer. I try to please.

Great!
Now if only adnoto will explain all those names and ancronyms you dropped on me (you smug little pompous devil, you) I'll be all set for another decade of blissful non-ignorance regarding the struggles of our forefathers in the DFH movement.
Didn't you forget Sam Gompers?
