  • In a nutshell

[Read the article: Why has world opinion of the U.S. changed dramatically since 2000?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

"The America that the world sees now is not the America that my parents raised me to believe in, not the America that my father and both my grandfathers fought for in Vietnam, Korea, and World War Two. But until we have ousted this criminal administration, that is the America that we are."

This beautifully written paragraph explains my thoughts on the subject precisely.

Only after we rid ourselves of every vestige of this administration and its supporting players, can we being to redeem our reputation in the world.

The only question thus remaining, in my estimation, is how to proceed in exorcising our demons quickly, efficiently, and completely.

I'm not sure it can be done within a generation.

should read...."can we begin to redeem our reputation...."

"I actually don't know anyone who reads "

Just like Pooter242, you tend to be much too wordy. You could (and should) have stopped your paragraph right there.

(to RealName) "I see that you can type. But in all seriousness, can you read?"

No, but he claims to know people who can (read).

    "I agree...

that same sex marriage is one of the least important issues in the world today.

So why write a blog about it?"

Just to get your attention, Mr. T.

    It works everytime.

This guy has been a phony since he ran for Bob Livingston's seat in Congress. Livingston (Speaker of the House Elect, you will recall), was fond of saddling up his ladies and doing the horsey thing....all the while railing against Bill Clinton's "moral depravity". He's now making millions as a DC lobbiest.

Oh, the delicious irony. Slide over a tad Bill Bennett. Vitter can sit right between you and Jimmy Swaggart.

  • Damn! I write like the Major....

    Lobbyist.

It will also be interesting to see whether Mrs. Vitter will start sharpening the knife or whether she made her comment for the sole purpose of taking a whack at Hillary.

It's pretty obvious that they're not obsessed with anything other than votes.

That also explains why Bush ran on a platform against "nation building" and vowed not to enter into military adventures without a solid "exit straqtegy" in place.

"That Vitter would endorse the pro-choice, pro-gay rights candidate in the Republican field, let alone be one of the first to do so, tells you even more about how earnest his views on social matters are."

...or he knows just how "pro-gay rights", Rudy actually is when he doesn't have a large gay voting block to court.

Rudy's also big on naming those "strict constructionists" to the Federal bench. Given his position on gun control, should one wonder what Rudy considers to be a "strict constructionist"?

Whores beget whores. Word down here in his district was (is?) that he was looking at the Veep slot on Rudy's ticket.

As someone who lives about 23 miles west of Slidell, I applaud your presentation of that Sabine River joke.

Frankly, I'm surprised that no one has asked what a "yat" is.

    Yeah you right, Heart.

"The whole beltway press culture seems a bit incestuous when viewed from the outside. The politicians would much rather cooperate with people who will uncritically fall over themselves to help the politicians in exchange for rewards within the beltway culture itself such as access and cross promotion.

It seems that some reporters, to use the term loosely, are much more interested in the perks of popularity with the people they report on than they our in anything so vague as professional integrity." - sam-i-am

[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Until the Majority Party in Congress starts getting serious with witnesses at its "hearings" there's no reason to believe they (hearings) are anything but swill for the voters.

Congress should issue a contempt citation and request that the Justice Department arrest and detain Miers until such time as she either decides to obey the law or that the Supreme Court rules that our Constitution is bunk.

    Grow some balls, Nancy.

"An anonymous affair with a prostitute is no parallel to President Clinton's disgusting behavior with a staffer"

    -- droliver

Even if the article concerned "an anonymous affair with a prostitute", which it didn't, the affair turns out to be not so anonymous after all.

    Heh.

[Read the article: Little outbursts of journalism -- what causes them?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

"I can't help but wonder what has happened to allow this sudden change."

....and I can't help but wonder if this Great and Miraculous change among today's journalists is due to the changing political landscape.

Is it possible that these people are finally understanding that the People no longer support this administration (and its political goals) and if they wish to continue to enjoy the perks of their profession (dancing, swapping spit, and knee slapping with the likes of Karl Rove) they are going to have to cater to the desires of the New Sheriff - whoever that may be?

Frankly, I don't believe that they have been overcome with a sudden belief in Journalistic Integrity. It's my opinion that if they believed for a moment that they would continue to be invited to the same parties, dine at the same restaurants, and generally be allowed to bask in the shadows of the Power of Washington's Elite, and continue to produce shit for their consumers, they'd produce shit simply because it's easier.
