[Read more letters about this article: Here]And how is it, exactly, that you know what Obama really "meant" regarding the "clinging" of people to their guns, religion, and antipathy for those who are different? Did he convey this meaning to you other than through the words in his San Francisco speech?
Yes, as a matter of fact, he did.
I'm very familiar with the pattern of political gamesmanship you refer to, but do you consider the Huffington Post, where the quotation from Obama's speech first appeared, a hotbed of Republican political operatives? Do you consider Hillary Clinton, who blasted Obama for his remarks, a Republican operative?
No, I don't consider Huffpo to be a hotbed of Republicanism. Why would you think I believed that to be the case? I'm not a big fan of Huffington but I don't consider her a Republican operative. She seems to operate for the benefit of Arianna rather than either party.
I'm surprised that a person experienced in political gamesmanship, such as you, would limit such gamesmanship to that which occurs between persons of different parties. While it surprised me that Huffpo had the lead on this story, it doesn't surprise me that it was Clinton, not McCain who first jumped to emphasize it elsewhere.
Do you find it surprising that occurances such as this happen during primary races when candidates of the same party are fighting tooth and nail for the coveted nomination of their party?

[Read more letters about this article: Here]"Well, the next time you have another private, privileged conversation with him that you can't talk about, you may want to suggest to Obama that he share with a wider audience than just you, his explanation of his "poorly chosen words" in San Francisco."
Stick it up your ass, AI.
If you took the time to do something other than pound your pud here, you might be able to find where Obama actually did explain (to a very wide audience) what he meant by that "unfortunate choice of words." I'm not doing your work for you.
See ya.

--Yoo
[Read the article: Is it "contradictory" to decry the right's tactics while insisting on their equal application?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]"Boalt Hall School of Law professor John Yoo, who authored memos for the Bush administration that many have said condone torture,..."
"Condone(d) torture" my ass. Yoo knowingly enabled it. Even Torquemada Bush, when admitting he approved of the Torture Club meetings, claimed that it was fine and dandy because the subject was legal and recognized as such by a legal ruling from DOJ.
Instead of being granted tenure at a prestigious university, Yoo needs to be (first) shunned by other legal scholars, and (then) duckwalked before the International Court at the Hague and charged with crimes against humanity.

[Read more letters about this article: Here]"Myself, I plan to spend those months sedated in a sensory deprivation tank. Otherwise, I will watch, read and write, and emerge psychotic, roaming the local main street muttering about alternate universes until someone files a petition for my forcible commitment."
Remember the last time someone filed such a petition? They had then, and whoever attempts it now will have, about the same chance of success as I have of finding a 48 year old Virgin who raises lovely coconuts and castrates grizzly bears in her spare time.
Keep the faith, Mona. Sanity is right around the corner and neither you nor I may be capable of handling it.

[Read more letters about this article: Here]"And he might have little record in the US Senate, but what about the Illinois Senate?"
Given the performance of the US Senate over the past dozen years or so, it serves Obama well to not have much of a record there.
US Senators have failed this country miserably and if a Senator desires to run on his or her record in that body, they do so at their own peril.
There's a good reason why US Senators don't have a history of successful Presidential attempts.

[Read the article: Mukasey dishonesty update]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Doesn't make sense.
It makes perfect sense once one understands that the DOJ is lying and that just about everything they have to say about this subject is designed to protect someone within the administration from accountability.
There is now no way this nation will recover from this administration without heads rolling. High level heads. Rolling very far.

[Read the article: Ken Pollack: Al Qaeda is a great "catch-all" term]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Thank you for the link.
It will be interesting to see how much follow-up on this story is done by other "news" outlets. I suspect Olberman will have something to say about it but I won't hold my breath on the others doing much more than mentioning it in passing.
This thing should be discussed on the usual Sunday morning pundit parades but they'll probably stick to discussing Hillary's cleavage, McCain's strong record in foreign relations and his newly acquired expertise on economics, and the Den Mother of Obama's Cub Scout Pack being a closet lesbian.
Hillary's cleavage? Sheesh.

[Read more letters about this article: Here]IMO, the only way this is going to grow big legs is if the media decide to flip and blame their crap coverage of the war and Pentagon stories on being duped.
Maybe Glenn could email that dipwad press officer for Petraeus and see if he'd care to comment - when he sobers up.
