I actually know what its like to live in a place that's under threat of violence twenty four hours a day. My son is about to go through the same experience. And all you can do is find fault with my word usage. Nice going, Sherlock, with you at the helm, this war should be over in no time."
I take no joy in finding fault with folks who share my beliefs but I also take no joy in watching them makes fools of themselves by posting erroneous information. Friends don't allow friends to make fools of themselves.
Next time you have the urge to post that McCain might have used his influence to get his son a non-combat job in Iraq, while that same son is in a Marine combat unit, maybe you'll think twice about it.
By the way, today, 3 more people were killed in the Green Zone you claimed was safe.

"Mine was that McCain's son managed to get an assignment that would exclude him from combat;"
(emphasis added)
Those are your words. Posted right here in this thread.
My point was to correct your apparent thought that there was ANY assignment for a Marine in Iraq which would "exclude him from combat". Period. I can envision that there are many Marines who serve in Iraq without seeing combat. That does not negate the fact that they are ALL liable to engage in combat and that there really isn't any way to ensure that any single Marine will not be subject to combat on a given day during a tour of duty in that country.
If you don't want to be corrected, don't post bullshit.

One more thing, Omooex

[Read more letters about this article: Here]"I think Jason is also correct because, as progressives, when we repeat data that's not bullet-proof, it can hurt us a lot more than it would the opposition..."
Those are your words also......taken from another thread on Solon.
Physician, heal thyself.
Now, I'm done with you.

[Read more letters about this article: Here]"How could you be so purposefully obtuse. This has just really gotten my goat, I'm afraid. Am I to understand, that you can't see how someone with power could arrange for his son to serve in a unit assigned to a place that was to see combat? That would effectively mean that he was excluded from combat, you moron!"
Want to read that back to yourself real slowly and see if it makes any more sense this time than it did when you typed it?

-- Omooex in answer to your request....

[Read more letters about this article: Here]No. I don't believe our business is finished.
You've made the claim that it is possible for John McCain to have pulled some strings so that his Marine son could be assigned to a unit in Iraq which would not see combat.
I have very patiently explained to you that there are NO Marine units in Iraq which would be safe from the possibility of combat and I suggested that it would be a good idea if you didn't post such bullshit.
Yet, despite my patient efforts, you still seem to believe that your initial premise is solid and that it's possible that McCain's son has escaped combat because of something done by his father even though there are no non-combat Marine billets in Iraq.
Now, you've posted a paragraph which, if read as is, in context, is complete and utter nonsense. When I asked you to proof read it, you claim I implied that you are moron. A quick read of my post requesting that you proof read your work reveals that I did no such thing. I politely suggested that you read your own post to determine what it meant.
Have you always had this propensity for exaggerating, whining, and dissembling about what other posters do or do not post, or is it a recent phenomenon?

[Read more letters about this article: Here]"Jebbie, omooex has devolved into whining incoherence over the past 3-4 posts, and his initial comment was impolitic -- but he did not assert that there are any "Marine units in Iraq which would be safe from the possibility of combat","
Au contrare.
Here's what he posted...
"Mine (his position) was that McCain's son managed to get an assignment that would exclude him from combat.."
when replying to another poster who he apparently believed had mistated his position.
In order for McCain's son to have managed to get an assignment which would exclude him from combat, there first must be in existance, such an assignment. There are no such assignments and thus his premise is not possibly correct.
I really don't understand why this is so difficult to understand and I certainly don't understand why, when this is pointed out to him, he believes that he has earned the right to post obvious mistruths simply because he claims he lived in an occupied area. That might have given him insight into what it's like to live in an occupied area, but it certainly doesn't give him a free pass to post obvious distortions of reality which are totally unconnected his experiences.
You and I lived through Katrina but that doesn't give us license to run around claiming to be Olympic class backstrokers. It gives us some knowledge of what is required to survive a bigassed hurricane, but it doesn't give us any insight on how the US Corps of Engineers makes work assignments.
