Unless Mukasey has actually drunk the coolaid himself,
[Read the article: The DOJ comments on the Mukasey controversy]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]there's just something strange about Mukasey lying to protect an administration which didn't include him at the time. Why would he do it?
Here's a man who gave up a lifetime appointment to an extremely prestigious job as a Federal Judge to be AG. Unless he's been promised a seat with the Supremes, there really isn't any upside for him to lie and quite honestly, this little deal isn't going to make the difference between a McCain administration being inaugurated next January and a Clinton or Obama administration being sworn in.
As it stands right now, none of this stuff is going to impact McCain (unless it impacts the entire GOP).
I can understand why others in the administration would want to fluff their resume's but...why would Mukasey do it?

[Read more letters about this article: Here]Thanks.
I was aware that he is tight with Guliani and Lieberman but wasn't aware he was that tight.
The more I learn about this stuff, the more I see the incestuous relationships that exist in Washington, involving members of both parties.
I'm starting to believe they are ALL whores.

[Read more letters about this article: Here]Yeah - you - right, Dawlin! ;->
I have to admit, Holly, that you caught me with my pants down on that one. It's just that I was of the impression that politicians who are not resident in our neck of the woods would have the decency to at least try to hide their filthy works.
Maybe I was distracted by Aaron "Balls of Steel" Brousard's brainfart to sell the Causeway to the Shaw Group. Next thing you know, with Harry Lee out of the way, he'll want to outsource the JPSO to Blackwater. Sigh.

If you'll give me time to shower, shave, and get a haircut, I'll meet y'all there.

[Read more letters about this article: Here]I just remembered.
At my age, if I shower and shave, all that will be left of my DFH persona will be the hippie part.
I gotta think about that one for a while.

[Read more letters about this article: Here]"Obama says he would bomb Pakistan, but does he have the bowling balls?"
It doesn't take bowling (or any other type of) balls to order other men into battle whether that battle be dropping bombs from 60,000 feet, launching missles from afar, or slogging through the mud on foot with nothing but a rifle.

[Read more letters about this article: Here]"Thanks for taking the time, and having the courage, to make your point."
Like Bill Owen, you seem to have a rather distorted view of what constitutes courage. Just as it doesn't take courage (balls) to order other men into battle, it doesn't take courage to post one's views on a website - even if they are dissenting.
This certainly isn't a knock on Che', whose writing I find interesting and a valuable addition to this site, but I'm courious about something. Would you mind clarifying why you believe Che' is courageous?

[Read more letters about this article: Here]"That clear enough?"
Yes. It's clear enough to tell me that you have not the foggiest notion of what real courage is comprised of.
While you are studying the Dalai Lama, you might find it adventageous to devote some time into determining where he finds the courage to face himself.
That, my friend, takes real courage and it's something that most of us never succeed in doing and only a few of us even attempt.

[Read more letters about this article: Here]"Off topic, I just finished reading OIL! by Upton Sinclair and the similarites of what we are going through today to the 20's is mind boggling...and that definitely includes the complicit media."
I haven't read "Oil" but your description nudges me hard enough think back to the teens and twenties when the American worker was first throwing off the shackles of its corporate bondage (now there's a high fallutin phrase for you) and the "labor" movement was first getting a good hold - against the wishes of our press establishment. The labor movement would continue to grow until the sixties or early seventies when a renaissance of corporate greed and power once again gained steam. Now, corporate power is once again reaching a peak and once again our free "press" is cowing to its corporate masters and throwing its weight toward the exploiters of humanity.
If you haven't read Eric Hoffer, you might be interested in his take on this subject.

[Read the article: The Associated Press fails to reveal Mukasey's favorite color]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]"Finally, a psychoanalyst was quoted to explain how important it is that, after Alberto Gonazles, we have someone that we can really feel comfortable with -- someone who is humble, honest, smart and a real family man. Someone just like Michael Mukasey, our new Attorney General whom we can both love and trust, someone who will protect us and humbly teach us about honor, just as he does with his own grandchildren, whom he loves so very much."
Upon reading this paragraph, I was immediately reminded of a sign I once saw in a Paul Simon video taken at the Concert in Zimbabwe.
In the background of one shot at the beginning of the song "The Boy in the Bubble" is a sign which reads, "Let us all rally behind our authentic and consistent leader Cde. R. G. Mugabe" (I've included a link in my signature - the sign can be seen at 1:12).
The more things change, the more they stay the same, eh?
