    "Love thy neighbor. okay."

Had Spitzer followed your advice,he might still be Governor next Tuesday.

    Oooops. Wrong thread.

    My bad.

Meanwhile, Pedinska and Cocktailhag are getting pumped up.

  • Where's Shooter242? Maybe his head exploded.

Pedinska is tied up in traffic after visiting the mall. The shoe store had a Big Sale on pumps that she didn't want to miss.

"John Hagee continues to believe that the City of New Orleans got what it deserved when Katrina drowned its residents and devastated the lives of thousands of Americans."

Hagee, like many other people, still believe that Hurricane Katrina drowned the residents of New Orleans. That is, quite simply, not the case.

Faulty levee design by the US Army Corps of Engineers drowned the residents of New Orleans. Damage by the actual hurricane, absent the failure of the federal levees, was rather unremarkable. The Gulf Coast of Mississippi and Alabama were devastated by Katrina's winds and surge. New Orleans, on the other hand, suffered rather minor damage from wind and the hurricane itself was not a major "rain event".

Additionally, the funnel effect created by the Mississippi River Gulf Outlet (MRGO) canal in St. Bernard Parish, a canal which most people of the area have been pleading to be closed for many, many years, is what caused the flood damage to East New Orleans, St. Bernard Parish, and the Lower Ninth Ward by magnifying the extent of high water. Those pleas fell on deaf ears.

We all know about the damage to the Lowa Nint', but few know that, in St. Bernard parish, every housing structure except two (2) were destroyed or severely damaged by the flooding. All but 2.

MRGO, was budgeted annually by the Corps, for about $13 million annually, handled one (1) ship a day. That's $20,000 per ship that taxpayers paid to lessen the cost of shipping goods into and out of the US. It was a $20,000/day shortcut.

The Corps has, since Katrina, announced that it will close the canal.

For what it's worth, I agree with you.

Glenn is arguing from the standpoint that folks aren't fair if they don't apply the same standard to McCain as they are to Obama.

Well, politics ain't fair and McCain doesn't have to worry about the color of his skin being one strike against him in the eyes of many, many white voters.

McCain can afford to lose the minimal amount of votes that Hagee will lose him. Obama can't.

    Fair? Nope.

    Reality?

"And to keep this on topic, does anyone know Obama's position on condom use?"

I suspect that he positions them pretty much in the same place as most men. Shooter puts them on his head but Shooter isn't like most men.

Perhaps you would be so kind as to point out the errors in that speech.

The only part that I find to be theory rather than fact is the statement about starting the AIDs epidemic.

We bombed Hiroshima, we bombed Nagasaki - check

we nuked far more than the thousands in New York and the Pentagon - check

and we never batted an eye - check

We have supported state terrorism against the Palestinians and black South Africans, - check

America's chickens are coming home to roost - check

blamed America for starting the AIDS virus - unknown

    training professional killers, - check

    importing drugs - check

and creating a racist society that would never elect a black candidate president - thusfar, check

America is still the No. 1 killer in the world. ... We are deeply involved in the importing of drugs, the exporting of guns and the training of professional killers. - check

We bombed Cambodia, Iraq and Nicaragua, killing women and children while trying to get public opinion turned against (Fidel) Castro and (Muammar) Ghadhafi. - check

We put (Nelson) Mandela in prison and supported apartheid the whole 27 years he was there. - check

Precisely which of the above statements is untrue?

"Shall I tell you how many dinners with Russian émigré friends of mine have begun at 3 o'clock in the afternoon, and ended at 3 o'clock the next morning without a single mention of missing white women? Is this a bad thing?"

Not if you're talking about my second wife. I could go for centuries without missing her.

My friend, the next time you want to post something absurd, review some of your past posts on Solon, take your pick, and then cut n paste.

    Viola! Instant absurdity!
