The Cold Within

The Cold Within

Six humans trapped in happenstance in dark and bitter cold,

Each one possessed a stick of wood, or so the story's told.

Their dying fire in need of logs, one woman held her's back,

For on the faces around the fire, she noticed one was black.

The next one looking across the way saw one not of his church,

And couldn't bring himself to give the fire his stick of birch.

The third one sat in tattered clothes and gave his coat a hitch, why should my log be used to aid the idle rich?

The rich man just sat back and thought of the wealth he had in store, and how to keep what he had earned from the lazy shiftless poor.

The black man's face bespoke revenge as the fire passed from his sight, for all he saw in his stick of wood was a chance to spite the whote.

The last man in this forlorn group did not expect for gain,

Giving only to those who gave was how he played the game.

Six logs held tight in death stilled hands, was proof of human sin -

They didn't die from the cold without,

They died from the cold within.

"Not exactly something you can dance to, is it?"

That depends on how whacked one happens to be at the time. Back in the day, I was known to dance to a bullfrog occasionally.

Laurel is poisonous

It's certainly not the time to rest on our laurels. Beside the fact that it would be uncomfortable as hell, it's now the time to bear down and let the leadership of the Democratic Party know that we're watching and we intend for them to do our bidding, not the other way around.

Targeted donations would be an excellent way to do this. Another way is to return any and all beg slips (requests for donations) from those Democrats who support the current administration with a note explaining why you haven't included a check.

Let them know!

I also still think it would be great to see Clinton, Obama, and Edwards stand united on this issue this coming Monday. Don't let them (especially Clinton and Obama) remain silent on this and therefore be able to duck the consequences.

Your friend is not from the near, far, or Middle East. He seems to be an expatriot American currently living in France.

If you read his other offerings on other blogs at Solon, you'll see that he seems to have a propensity for disagrement. Fact is, he seems not to like much of anything.

Don't worry about it.

Drop a private note to Glenn and ask him to give you my email addy.

Do you have a spare pony?

Oh, Mona! Oyez, Oyez, Oyez

"About the Red Stars

I'd be willing to bet all ten of my ponies that Glenn is not the entity/mechanism assigning those things."

The Red Star program is the latest Rovian brainfart of the Bush Administration. When fully implemented, it will automatically track those who repeatedly rail against TWOD and bring TWOD into every conversation here, regardless of whether it is germane to the conversation. It is currently undergoing beta testing and thus, Red Stars denote only that the currently assigned agent has indeed learned to read words of more than one syllable, even if they are located in compound sentences.

In anycase, you have only nine (9) ponies available to wager. I had instructed my Counsel and Advisor, Tourvald Hagestedt, Esq. to file a lien upon one (1) pony and he has informed me that said lien has been acquired. He has also instructed me to officially request that you not move, transfer or otherwise make unavailable any and all ponies which may be considered relevant to whatever civil action may be shortly extant.

How's tricks?

Perhaps they are, indeed.

Right now, I am heading for the Emergency Room after attempting to take Archie's advice and in so doing, I completely discombobulated my spine. ;)

Sebelius

At first, I was a little disappointed in her demeanor and message but after a short bit of thought, I believe she may have hit precisely the correct nerve of the American people.

I gotta admit though, her comment about those politicos being more interested in how many times what side stood up, as opposed to doing any actual commentary on the contents of the speech itself did give me a grin. I imagined Tweety sitting there, hearing that, and then checking to see if he still possessed testicles.

Yo, Shooter!

"That leaves McCain and Romney to fight it out. Neither is a full conservative." -- shooter242

Is a "full conservative" anything like a "full monty"? I'm aware that they look alike but now that you mention it, a full monty would seem to have more intelligence than a "full" conservative.

Just what is a "full conservative"? Right now, I believe "real" conservatives are as demonstrated in the clip you'll see by clicking my name.

"(And now one sees why shooter242 and John Hinderaker feel that McCain isn't 100% "conservative".)"

I believe the term Shooter used was "real conservative" and I am still waiting for Shooter to explain what he means by that term but I'm not holding my breath.

Oh, Mona!

"So, I strongly suggest ignoring him, and thus rendering his tactics not successful."

I'm not sure PW is male, in the traditional sense of the word.
