"As you indicate, there is an election coming. A much larger dem. majority in both senate and house would help. So would a dem. in the WH. There are very few candidates for any of the offices that I am happy with, but you do have choose the best."

Not being one who enjoys pissing on someone else's cereal, I hesitate to disagree. Nevertheless, I shall.

If the Democrats increase their numbers in Congress, and if their candidate succeeds Bush as President, I really don't see the investigations into this administration continuing. What I see is the new President and Congress announcing that in the interest of the Nation, they have decided to move forward and not look back. We saw the same thing happen with the first Clinton administration and I really don't see anything changing.

As voters (and occasionally agitators), we only think we have a major impact on what happens in Washington. The real impact belongs to the monied interests (individuals and corporations) of this country, not individuals and not aligned groups of individuals.

Oh, we can enjoy an occasional victory and the subsequent high-fives but over the long haul, the Eli's and Crimsons will continue to rule and Wall Street will continue to finance its own ideas with our money and our sons.

"We'll now see if the M$M has the guts to call him an idiot immediately after the conference is over."

Please don't hold your breath, my friend.

Aside to my other friend here, the vegetable man.... please don't delay delivery of my vegetables too long. Your mule powered wagon is my source of enlightenment, my vitamins.

    Tarry not long at LBJ.

    Scene I Act 1

Location: Oval Office, The White House

President George W. Bush is sitting at his desk when Director of National Intelligence Mike McConnell enters the office. Bush offers McConnell a chair and says, "What's on your mind, Mikie?"

McConnell, beaming with pride, stiffens his back to a more upright and locked position and replies, "Well, Mr. President, we have some new information."

"Great!" exclaims President Bush. "How's your wife and kids?"

"They're fine, Mr. President", says McConnell. "I have to run now, they're opening a new room at AT&T and I want to be there when they copy down the entire internet."

"Have a Great Day, Mikie." says George Bush, as he withdraws a different color crayon from his box and starts to work on his memoirs.

Please take your crap someplace else.

    Extortion is not condoned.

I have never personally seen Glenn delete a post or ban a poster but would certainly welcome it in your case.

"If this isn't strong evidence of pro-Republican bias in the beltway media, I don't know what is."

I'm not sure it's proof positive of Republican bias in the media as much as it's a case of the Versailles Courtesans circling the wagons to thwart an attack by hoi polloi (in this case, DFH Bloggers). IMO, if the political situation were reversed and the same thing happened, I believe the "media" would have acted in the same manner.

Klein's actions are indicative of a lazy person who, when caught snoozing, decides it's easier and better to cover one's ears, close one's eyes, and trill "la la la la, I can't hear you." than it would be to own up to the problem and make it right. He got caught, but to admit it would be to admit that he and his counterparts in the Washington media aren't the be-all-and-end-all experts they have sold themselves as being. If Klein were to admit wrongdoing, he would be admitting something which would end up opening up ALL the Versailles Court to scrutiny.

They can't have that because once that happens, the days when a handful of "stars" controlling the People's access to news will begin to end.

Why do you think Rather was spiked as quickly and solidly as he was?

"What I am trying to suggest, obviously unclearly, for which I apologize, is this:

    1) being civilized may by at odds with accomplishing certain things in the world.

    2) if (1), one must decide whether one prefers being civilized or getting the things."

Isn't that the same argument made by those who favor allowing us to torture people?

    Aren't we better than that?

"Sorry but that isn't true, our influence revolved around money and military. Should you doubt that, look at how many nations are gravitating to the orbit around China."

How many nations are gravitating to orbit around China, Shooter?

In 1939, our military was, at best, second rate. Why did most of the nations of the world support us then, Shooter?

Do you believe most nations of the world were our allies during the "cold" war because they were afraid we would nuke them? Was it because they were afraid we would freeze them out monetarily, Shooter?

Was the United States chosen as a refuge for your poor, your tired, your huddled masses yearning to to be free because those huddled masses were in fear of being nuked?

How many nations are gravitating to orbit around China, Shooter?

These people in the Senate seem more concerned with how long it will take to "dispose" of their business than they are to what their "business" entails.

IOW, these bastards are worried more about getting out of Washington for their Christmas vacation than they are about the business at hand.

May I suggest that the country might better be served if they ALL took an extended vacation, may I suggest one of 20-30 years)?
