"Do you know a hard disk recovery company in the Bay Area that is reliable and keeps good confidentiality? I have a disk drive with 2 years of hard work on it that isn't responding to the outside world (it may have become autistic)."

I don't know of any off hand but I'll forward your request to my second wife. She had the same symptoms.

I don't understand

why the Democrats don't at least make them work for their fillibuster.

In the good old days, fillibusters were schemes that took days and days to perform. While they were going on, there was furious armtwisting going on on the floor and in the cloakroom in an attempt to get enough folks to change their vote to actually break the fillibuster.

Nowadays, all someone has to do is threaten a filibuster, get one vote to verify that there are not enough votes at that time to break it and the Senate capitulates to the minority.

Harry, make them work for their fillibusters.

Next, when a bill comes to you from this administration, like the current FISA Amnesty deal, let it sit on the shelf while the GOP is fillibustering and don't schedule it for the floor until it's as ripe as a 6 month-old melon (or one of Shooter's comments here). IOW, make them pay for their obstructionism.

When you're done with that, tell Leiberman to find a smaller office and staff because he no longer has any committee assignments out of your office and won't need a large office and staff.

Maybe he could share an office with Sen. Craig.

Ooops!

Did I say office?

I meant to say that Leiberman can share a stall with Sen, Craig, not an office.

Tell the thugs

they may amend their resolution to the next military spending bill which includes another $40-50 billion for Iraq and also includes some timetables for our withdrawl.

Until then, they should be reminded who sets the agenda in the House.

Glenn -

"That's the principal reason why so many people prefer to avoid the topic altogether."

I'd much rather discuss abortion and/or religion.

On a more serious note, do you believe that the invasion of Iraq would have taken place had AIPAC been vehemently against it?

What a lovely couple.....

Ahmadinejad - "There are no gays in Iran."

Bush - "There are no gays in our military."

Musings

"I don't believe that Cheney and the other neocons are doing what they're doing strictly for the money. Instead they are "fanatic" in their beliefs that America should rule the world and be the Empire she was destined to be."

I'm not sure about that. I don't think it's that deep.

For many of us who lived during the Vietnam era, especially those of us who left blood and friends on the soil of Vietnam only to return to a society which was severely split regarding the 'whys' of that debacle, the whole American Argument was surreal. Nevertheless, we generally took sides. Some of us continued to support the war and others decided to oppose it. Very few chose to ignore it.

Some lost the argument and some didn't but no one won. To many, if not most, it became the defining period of their lives. It was a moment in time that would haunt them for the rest of their lives also.

Cheney and the others lost. They lost publicly and were humiliated. It's my thought that they have never forgiven the Country for "letting them down". Thus was born the Neocon movement which became an outlet for both their embarassment and their frustration. The Dirty Fucking Hippies won.

The current mess we're in is the result of their mad desire to set things straight and finally 'win' the Vietnam argument. It's not about country, it's not about oil, it's certainly not about terrorism or even religion. All those things are mere excuses (and weapons) which allow them to attempt to regain their intellectual and political dominance and be able to say...

"WE WERE RIGHT!

On another note...it's time for the Democrats to tell Leiberman to take a hike and remove his committee assignments. If the GOP wants to pick him up, let them.
