This is what conservative fundamentalist pro-lifers believe all of us liberals do in the deepest pit of their imaginations, and now this woman is proving them right! There are far too many college-educated, urban whites who believe the Obama is a Muslim lie, as well as many others. I'm at a loss of how to handle the misinformation! I could carry peer-reviewed journal articles with extensive research on Obama's past, reels of every piece of footage ever taken of Michelle Obama (indicating that she never gave a racist speech), and Obama's actual original birth certificate and it would never be enough for these people who are only looking for excuses that don't sound racist in order to give reasons why they will never, ever vote for a Black man. Ever! With apologies to The Onion... I'm suffering from an acute case of Outrage Fatigue.

So basically what Salon readers--or at least, many of the commenters--want is for every woman to be unhappy, to suffer for her decisions, to burn in hell for them. You can't ever be happy if you're a woman, they will make you pay for it. And you can't make your own decisions. These commenters are not too far from the Rush Limbaughs of the world--blaming Elizabeth Edwards for failing to give John blowjobs while undergoing chemo.

Just to prevent the flamers, this comment is written by a happily-married-at-twenty-two woman. My husband values my freedom and my choices. If he didn't, I would divorce him, too (or not marry him, but sometimes you don't know who you married, regardless of gender or age). Give the LW a break. Would YOU prefer to be married to a quiet/meek/complacent, but dishonest & fake woman? If you would, YOU need therapy. And please keep your judgmental comments to the Focus on the Family boards.

Well, I got married at 22, but I'm celebrating my fifth anniversary in two weeks. So I guess I beat your projections! Basically, what I was saying is that people on here are judgmental to women LWs in general, and this is another example. And yes, Rush Limbaugh implied that Elizabeth Edwards was to blame. He said something to the effect of "If she had been using her mouth for other things besides talking, John wouldn't have had to cheat". That's not the exact quote, but that's the gist, and the right-wingers are falling in lock-step. There are a lot of people on this site who think they are liberal, but still want women in their traditional roles. Sorry if what I said came out harsh, but I don't post often, so when I do, I'm usually at the breaking point.
