Am I missing Something?
[Read the article: "Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Several postings have compared Cohen with John Stewart, but it seems to me that one thing that distinguishes Stewart from other "ambush" interviewers is that he's unfailingly polite--one might even say respectful--to his interviewees, regardless of the noxiousness of their views. For me, it's the fact that he takes his interviewees' arguments seriously and takes them on at a substantive level that makes him so watchable--he skewers people with his words, not his buffoonery.

Channel 4, not BBC
[Read the article: Shetty treatment]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Your accompanying blurb implies that the show appeared on the BBC, when in fact it was shown on Channel 4, a commercial station. I detect more than a little schadenfreude from the BBC, which seems to be enjoying the negative fallout from the show that Channel 4 is receiving, despite the latter's best efforts to portray the incidents as a great opportunity to address the current state of race relations in Britain.

Huh?
[Read the article: How bots rigged D.C.'s "hot" reporter contest]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]A "beauty contest" is rigged? Do we really care about this story? Is it truly worthy of headline status? Maybe Karl Rove is involved somewhere. I must say I expect more of Salon.

Relief Minnesota Style
[Read the article: Craig lawyer: He may stay in the Senate no matter what]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]"Relief in Minnesota?" Would that be "executive relief?" I thought that's what caused this problem for Craig in the first place.

I'm a Believer
[Read the article: Obama's speech on race]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I just came from the memorial for Eve Carson, our UNC student body president who was murdered two weeks ago--there must have been 15,000 people filling the basketball arena. I couldn't help but draw parallels between Eve's life of service and dedication to those less privleged, and Obama's story about Ashley. I've had the privilege of being inspired and deeply moved twice in one day. I'm finally convinced--Obama is the person we've been waiting for to move this country forward and rescue us from our long Bush administration nightmare. He will inspire the Eve's and Ashley's--black and white--of this world.
