[Read the article: Lawbreaking telecoms still conniving to obtain immunity from Congress]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Ah, but the government does not force testing for alcohol, by far the most common method of impairment.
I suppose if you are vegged by a drunk driver it is different and more acceptable than one bombed on barbiturates?
Or how about if you are vegged by someone talking on the cell phone? Look around and see how cell phone users drive, they are statistically as dangerous as drunk drivers.
I had a cell phone using woman literally run me right off the road about six months ago.. And then she gave me one finger salute when she finally noticed me.

[Read more letters about this article: Here]I'm taking bets that none of the three Dem front runners do anything significant about telecom immunity.
If I lose I promise not to mention the drug war for an entire ...ummm... day.
Yeah, that's the ticket.
And I'm still wondering how many of you have had any great success in talking to friends and family about what you are learning online.

Clinton's "stupidity"
[Read the article: Joe Klein rewrites his role in the 1990s]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Imagine that you are married to Hillary, a calculating, career driven woman if there ever was one.
Imagine also that you are a healthy middle aged man with a strong sex drive.
Imagine that you are in the Oval Office and some attractive (in a Raphaelesque manner) young woman is all but begging you for sex of any kind. A groupie if you will.
The temptation must have been overwhelming to just let the urge to merge surge.
I recall hearing Clinton once remark how he tried desperately to control himself.
Frankly, I doubt that there are all that many men reading this right now who could resist that urge indefinitely. Not many men get the experience of attractive young women begging them for
sex and far fewer deny themselves the opportunity to indulge.

[Read more letters about this article: Here]Why has honesty become a word that is no longer a prerequisite to writing about important current events in the nations important venues?
Mammon, gigantic, elephantine piles of mammon.
The love of mammon is the root of all evil.
My definition of greed, concocted in response to a challenge by a right wing talk show host that claimed an objective definition of greed could did not and could not exist:
that degree of acquisitiveness that will cause one to knowingly and deliberately cause harm to another without their uncoerced consent solely in order to enrichen or empower oneself
Neal Boortz never replied to my post on his very own Compuserve forum after his challenge on that same forum.
FWIW, Boortz is a lawyer.

[Read more letters about this article: Here]I fail to see how any Repug in the general election if Hillary is the candidate could possibly sleep at night if they try to make us regurgitate this ridiculous period in our history where a president was almost hounded out of office for such a trivial offense
That would require that they have a conscience..
Sociopaths lack a conscience.

[Read more letters about this article: Here]It is transparent that the media is not simply allied with corporate government, it is corporate government’s primary weapon.
“Think of the press as a great keyboard on which the government can play.” -Joseph Goebbels
I would include the corporatarchy in that as well as the government.

[Read more letters about this article: Here]He claims that being for or against the current administration cannot be properly argued because of the incomplete knowledge of the majority of Americans.
The true test of his faith is this: Ask him if he trusted the Clinton administration to the same degree as he does the Bush administration.
I look forward to hearing of your conversation.

Person is implied by "another".

[Read the article: Joe Klein rewrites his role in the 1990s]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]X amasses wealth, knowing that it will make Y feel bad. It’s not an accident. By your definition, as far as I can tell, X is greedy.
If someone sets out to amass wealth with the sole purpose of making others feel bad then they are indeed greedy. If they set out to amass wealth simply because they want the wealth then the psychological harm is incidental and not deliberate.
X makes widgets and sells them to Y at $1.00/widget. Z decides to get into the widget business and figures out a way to make a profit by selling them to Y for $0.95/widget. X cannot compete with Z, and is driven out of business. It’s not an accident. X can’t pay his mortgage and loses his house (i.e. “the occurrance of a change for the worse” (harm) occurs.) By your definition, as far as I can tell, Z is greedy.
Z does not set out to harm X, he sets out to make a profit, the harm is not caused deliberately.
X drives a car. It enriches his life by moving him from place to place quickly. It also releases poisons into the atmosphere which cause physical harm to many, many people. It’s not an accident. By your definition, as far as I can tell, this makes X greedy.
The release of poisons is incidental to driving the car, it is not a deliberate act to harm others. X does not drive the car in order to harm others, he drives the car to get from point to point.
